If you are logged off or on a different part of the map at the time the house trash can deletes the items, the trash can will save your points and deliver them to you at a later time.

If you believe you have points that have not been delivered by a house trash can, then remain logged in near the trash can for up to 15 minutes. If that does not work, then drop a single gold coin or something else with small turn-in value into the can, wait for the item to be deleted, then wait up to another 15 minutes for the other saved points to be delivered.
