I have nothing against a poll, but wouldnt it make more sense for people to post the shard and their plans so that they can be represented in the poll itself?

Are there other groups with a plan other than the group wanting to host on Sakura? If so, let them make a post before putting up some random meaningless poll.
Sakura is fine with me, but I would like to see one on Napa Valley sometime. I'm sure we could get a team together to set it up, as we have many rares collectors here. My only problem is the hours I work, I can play during the day, but I work graveyard (3am to 11am).

I still say Chessy is at a shortage of consistent rare vendors for sure. You might get a guy selling an item or two ever now and then but for the most part you don't. We hold on to everything here and do not sell.

How about we set a time period.. say Dec. 1st... anyone interested in hosting the next rares festival pm me the following info... who's involved, shard, month/date/length, events planned, housing locations, vendor count, rules, and anything else you think will help information wise.
Shortly after Dec 1st I'll put up a week long poll and list everyone's bid for the next festival along with all the information they have sent me... people can look at all the candidates and choose then.

It shouldnt take nearly a month for someone to decide they would like to host a festival, assemble a team and come up with some basic plans for it.
Not to mention its been nearly two days since I announced my bid, and not a single person has come forward stating they would also like to enter one.
We just have a bunch of people shouting out random shards they would like to see it happen on.

In addition, before the cats rares fest I recall a big discussion about taking the rares fest to an Asian shard and most were in agreement that it was a good idea...including myself. At this point we have the opportunity to see this happen, and with good vets to assist. In fact, where do I sign up to help?

Well like my post above states I dont really care where it is, BUT I would like to see one on Napa at some point. I would be willing to set it up myself, as long as everyone plans on keeping my hours. Anyone want to keep my hours?? I dont think so, I dont even want to keep my hours.
So I say, relax and do whatever you want. Build it and we will come!!

My ping to Sakura shard is a big issue for me (avg of 340ms). Everyone has checked whats their ping to that shard?
To check it:

I guess ill be there anyway, but im not counting to attend the events on the fest. Oh, i will not be able to be part of the "reskilling athelas" event..

Well Apetul, it seems that the majority of people either want the event to take place on Napa or on another shard that has hosted in the past, so at this point we're considering just scrapping the idea...

Fail poll is fail. The intention was good but it is hard to draw any conclusion from it. If someone voted without seeing the other thread about who would be running it Sakura might not be as appealing. When the names of DVI, Gunga Din, Athelas, Demonous, Lykor and who knows else who are added to the mix the lineup is so strong it could be held anywhere with success.
Another thing that I like is that they will be doing things that have worked with success in the past like the silent auction which was awesome. If that still isn't enough to win support I want their bid to win so I can take part in the rez kill Athelas contest.

I just don't think we have enough support from those foreign servers. Sure, there are *some* but not enough to warrant a festival there. I mean, people will travel wherever, but I'm less motivated for Asuka.
we'd get the usual rare fest people participating along with a bunch of Asian shard players so i would expect a good turnout, "if you build it, they will come"

Anyway, please don't scrap your plans. There is NO ONE ELSE stepping up with a plan for the next rares fest, just a bunch of also-rans throwing out their vote for Napa. You have a great team of rares collectors with PROVEN ability to plan and run an amazing festival. I would hate for all of us to lose out on the chance to have a true 24 hour rares festival because some people are trying to undermine it. That's why this poll is a fail.
To those of you who keep voting for this poll, put up or shut up. Come up with a plan and follow through or step aside and let the pros work their magic.
There are numerous rares collectors on our shard, many of us voted from Napa with no post. I for one didn't know it was a "requirement" to post because you voted.Well seems like all of a sudden Napa Valley has alot of votes a bit strange ehh. Any way if we have two rares festivals going on at the same time I'll be on the plane to the far east for sure

I understand that this poll well started with good intentions, how ever anyone could start up multiply new stratics account and vote as many times as they wish. A more accurate way would be to start a new post and ask the players who have attended the rares festivals in the past vote with thier name associated along with where they would like it. This way we have a better informed true vote from the players that would participate. Any visitors or newly established accounts would not be allowed to vote.
I would also like to thank DVI and any other players that are planning to help in the future rares festivals. This must take alot out of your daily lives to help provide all the details needed to make this happen.

I suggested that people to get their proposals together, sent them to be by a certain date and then I would list all the proposal info and include those shards/groups in a week long poll. Most of the community either didn't acknowledge this offer or didn't like that it might take so long to do.
I'll say this as a rares collector and not as a moderator... it really bothers me that people are in such a rush to make a decision. I really don't understand why this has to be pushed forward so abruptly. This happens each festival... there is a scramble and squabble. Perhaps the community should take the time to develop a set system of proposals and voting to be used this time and future occasions. This squabbling is really not helping the community, nor our public appearance.

After speaking to the other co-hosts and with much consideration for what others are saying their shard preference is we have decided to pull our bid for the festival for the time being.

I have a few questions before I decide to put out a bid for Napa. First and most important to me are the dates? When should we plan on doing the next fest? 2nd which type of auction does everyone prefer? Live or silent (silent is better for me)? 3rd is where to hold it, I didnt care for the last one in Luna (which is where my house is). I could drop one of my fel houses and place on in tram I guess.
The one thing that holds me back are the hours I work, I work in a major las vegas strip casino, and work comes first. If we have any type of event in, I will be working, thats just part of being a pit supervisor.
Otherwise I think I can find a few people to help out, we do have many trusted people on napa, Gray Mouser, Baron, Radagast, and others. I will contact a few and see what they think.
No promises as of now.

I also can help out which ever way I can. My luna house does not have any other vendors besides mine right now. Fellow napa'ers will help out and pitch in how ever they can also. so its not really a question of who will come forward. Just let us know what needs to be done and we will try to get it done. I actually think that the raresfest should not be too long from now. With how many events are going on and the amount of items that are out and that people want to trade, we should have a raresfest at least every 2 months. I know it is a lot of work and blah blah, but it doesn't have to be full on like the others were. I would like to focus on the rares themselves and just setting up vendors where only rares are sold is a good enough of a raresfest for me.

The festival is not meant to be about the vendors or sales, but about creating relationships between collectors and strengthening the community as a whole.
Also, while there are plenty of events going on and many items being released, the majority of what people are selling at festival are gumballs, or the items at events that are distributed via vending machines. The purposes of spacing the festivals out is to give people the opportunity to acquire higher end event rares and/or old event rares, seer items, etc that they would like to sell. If you do not give players time to do that, you will wind up with a festival that consists primarily of gumballs and a limited number of desirable higher end rares.
Since the original vote is trash now - with no asian shards in the running... i'd like to make a bid for atlantic. Terrible and inaccurate pole is terrible and inaccurate, so lets remake it with interested parties only. I can call out the Atlantic guns, as Baron has with Napa
