I wasnt very hot to get the booster (sadly reminds me the way Magic the gathering- card game did evoluate) but after reading the content of High Seas i felt interested by dev's ideas....

Started with fishing quests : after 120+ quests without anything else than basic rewards i started to think that spending literally days at sea wasnt that fun. The way we have to deal with quests is just silly and artificial. Did dev's know about the word enjoyability ??
Dungeon fishing : once again after a few hours dedicated to it only got stupid fishes that dont even stack together (even when cut).
MiB fishing : there at least is working properly although "high rewards" are coming very too easily.
New bosses hunts : got Corgul bugged a couple of times. Reached the island to deal with spawn but no boss around. (and no the island werent sinking...)
Summoned Scalis a few times , very very long fight for rare reward. (bit like Slasher or Navrey at once).
Pirat hunting : I really like new ships and cannons and such... too bad !!
after litterally hours of preparation for ammos and stuff, it seems that the need of raw materials is huge to make the dizains of needed hunts to get all deeds... thanks

There are still a few things i didnt try yet but i m just wondering if Dev's are really playing the game sometimes....
So many good ideas wasted by a poor implementation and too many bugs just dont make me positive for boosters to come.
Too bad guys, was a nice try....

Sometimes I feel lost.

When things are too easy, then players complain that everything came out at once, that it was fun for a few days but then, since everyone got everything it is not worth doing it any longer. Players give it up.....

If, on the contrary, things are too hard, players then complain that they have to spend too much of their playing time to get whatever and, they feel, that is not worth their time. Players give it up.....

So, I am not sure how things could be done in order to avoid either of the complaints....

hardly surprising you feel lost when these are things you yourself have recently been complaining about

What he is saying here is right on though...maybe they could make an "easy" shard and a "hard" shard to balance it out. I have no problem with the whole pirate/gunpowder thing...noone should be able to click to instantly get the reward. I have done about 15 or 20 pirate quests, only 1 ship plans and alot of flame cannon balls...which is cool for me, as the "instant" gratification of getting a ship plan on every cannon shot isnt there. i can drag it out as long as I want to get the other 7 plans..

what works well - the new tier quests from tel mur is a perfect example of tier quests and this is the way it should work.
setup fishing quests the same as tier quests with perhaps 10 tiers. so that you can work towards something and see your progress and at least have the feeling that you are achieving.

The biggest problem with fishing quests is you get level 1 quests at anytime and have no idea when your gonna get a 105 ps.

personally I would like the fishing ps to be only usable by the quester and then boost the ps at certain tiers.

Lorddog

also - the tier quests just didnt go far enough. at level 3 they ended - it would have been better to have some more levels (even if they dont progress as much)

My fisherman/lady still sits at a healthy 75.7 with average gains daily. I started fishing even before the booster pack was announced. I have a hard time understanding what the rush is for end game prizes but that's just me and my playstyle. If it were a temporary booster with a time limit I would feel more of a sense of urgency I guess.

My main, Airmid, took all of 7yrs to reach Legendary Mage. I enjoyed every minute of it and screen pic'd my skill gains at 100, 110, 115 and 120. I'll do the same with Anne Bonny as I sigh at yet another quest taking her from Britain to Jhelom and fish my heart out along the way. I have less time at the moment to indulge in my UO fantasies but enjoy this booster more each chance I get. We tried Corgil last night with just 3 people for the adventure, almost sure we wouldn't defeat him. We left like whipped dogs but it was fun to try.

The fun thing about UO is that every shard should be balanced between easy and hard but it's not always going to happen. It's a constant effort and I'm sure til the end of this game we'll always be tipping the scales with our complaints. It's all a part of the sandbox we play in. *smiles*

I always thought the game had an IRL feel, maybe they're doing away with that. Do you really think pirates go mine somewhere or make matches? No, they buy it all, or loot/steal it. From what I've heard about the booster, it's just anal and unrealistic. To the OP, you'll change your mind by the time the next one comes out, everybody does, and they know it.

Thats the beuty of it. Things too easy they will complain less but become bored easily and either leave or nag till something new comes along. Things are difficult they might complain a whole lot more but they won't stop trying. It will keep them busy for a very long time as nobody wants to consider themselves a quitter untill they finish the goal. That means playing more and contributing more months to the game. Wiithout noticing themselves that they actually found something to shoot for.

Challenge and fun go hand in hand...if you have one without the other (especially challenge without fun), then it becomes tedious and boring.

The issue is you have 2 choices. It's easy mode or to hard mode. No choice in for "MEDIUM" mode. Plus I think the DEVS made the booster to be tedious and time consuming on purpose. Gives them time so they can work on another booster. Things shouldn't be to easy in UO but also it shouldn't be the hardest either.

Since this booster is bugged to death makes you wonder if they can make 2 boosters a year. I doubt they even started with any foundation of ideas on the next booster with the current issues this one has. Remember, they are "LOOKING" into the fishing 120 power scroll issue atm. Can someone remind me how long this expasnion has been out? Just a little confused since they are just now "LOOKING" into one of their the major selling point of the high sea booster

We will see how long the booster concept lives anyway.
next in line is I think Warhammer with a booster and I guess depending on the sales there the future of boosters will also be decided.

Its just a RvR booster pack. Some cool features and added RvR levels. Supposedly be out before xmas. The thing is UO templates get nerfed. War templates are "BALANCED":bs:as the like to put it lol. I do have to say they jump on bugs pretty quick in WAR then they do UO. Different DEV team though so may explain things.

This booster was not targeted at a wide audience. If you are not into fishing or boats, then you are basically purchasing a 20% storage increase.

Yet another person complains that UO:HS was a big laborious turd, the usual fanboys scream their usual defenses about how anyone who doesn't want a 454598 step crafting process for matchsticks must want everything on a silver platter.

Meanwhile the booster lays dead and drawing flies while they pretend they can't smell it, with individual powder charges costing more than entire pirates are worth, and the same whopping four or five orc ship deeds across all of UO gathering dust on vendors.

i think the boosters sold reasonably well for the effort they put into it.

I don't speak for everyone, but How does one compare in a ratio of effort : sales, a integer to a zero ? its always going to be 100%

Example

we put in 0 effort and got 1 sale, thats 100% more then what we put in OMG !!!!!

we put in 0 effort and got 2 sales, thats 100% more then what we put in OMG !!!!!

Booster pack is marginally average (IMHO).

Creativity is truncated it seems.

I remain available for creative contractual consultation on game mechanics, concepts and design as offered previously, though my current 6 figure + salary will probably not be matchable by EA. Hence the contractual consultation considerations.

I could rephrase it then.
I think the booster sold reasonable well for the amount of limited content and price.

As for effort, they did not really tackle anything too challenging, though the new boat movement is interesting.

Although I like the boat movement changes, I really thought it would smooth out our individual characters movements while on these boats as well. With that being said it was a let down.

There are people that do PvE only in the game. You can PvE in all the lands. Also war does have role players. I see many times people asking for dungeon runs. Me? Im to busy rvring to do that stuff. Plus we have gold spammers like any other game :p We have LotD ( Land of the dead) which is PvE focus for leveling and you will RvR if the enemy is there also. It's a RvR pack b/c that what it is in most part.

Here is the expansion packs.

Mythic posted: The temperature is dropping and we hope that, as you sit huddled around the glow of your monitors, our fall offering of The Verminous Horde, Skaven-themed RVR packs will keep you warm. There’s so much to share that we wanted to make sure everyone is up to speed on what’s been going on the month of October, and what to expect in the near future.
</B>
For the last month, we’ve been hitting the Public Test server harder than ever. Through these tests and your feedback, we’ve been constantly iterating and improving aspects of the all new ORvR experience, the new Skaven RvR Dungeon, “Thanquol’s Incursion”, and many other aspects of the RvR Pack and Game Update 1.4. It’s not too late to come out and give your feedback either; Public Testing on Warpstone is still ongoing, so be sure to watch the Herald for PTS updates.

The Verminous Horde

When we launch The Verminous Horde, it will be available for purchase at the EA Store (EA Store (US) Online Store - Welcome) for all regions. You will receive codes that, once applied to your account via the Mythic account center (https://accounts.eamythic.com/), will unlock the offerings of RVR packs. We’ve focused the paid content into 2 packs, Progression and Personality, while the rest of The Verminous Horde content will be available for free via Game Update 1.4 Details of what’s offered in each of these packs can be found in the sidebar on this page. The packs can be purchased independently for $10, or together for $15. Moving forward, we want to keep offering our Community more Packs like this at regular intervals. This, of course, depends on player reaction and how well you like this model, so please, give us your feedback and share your thoughts!

The other major part of The Verminous Horde is Game Update 1.4.0 which contains content for all subscribers of the game, whether you choose to purchase the RvR packs or not. It is our hope that doing it this way will maximize the population in all RVR areas and ensure the best possible play experience. The full patch notes can be seen here. Highlights include an entirely revamped ORVR zone capture mechanic, the Skaven dungeon Thanquol’s incursion, and controllable Skaven classes that players can use in ORVR once the dungeon has been conquered. And with that, we will see you on the battlefield!

Uh seriously, you cant compare War and UO. They are set up differently. To long to post but if you know so much about war then you should already know that. Both UO and War boosters were made for their respective game. Two totally different games. The quote I posted also doesnt include the new race skavens for both sides, the new keep style of defence with air support, battle objectives will be more important, and many other options for defence and seiging keeps.

For UO HS bootster is satisfactory for a 13 year old game.

For War RvR Skaven booster is satisfactory for a 3 year old game.

Both are worth paying for each game.

I could say OUCH for the problems with the HS booster has caused for updated content the game neeeded years ago lol. I let you deal with that headache.

I'm sorry about this popps; but you are not one to comment on "things are too hard, players then complain..."

It was you who whined that during one of the invasions, (it might have been Magincia), that the "only deal fire damage" MOBS were killing you in seconds, and were unkillable. You then went on to tell us that you has 40 fire resistance on your suit.

If you don't remember any of this, I will try to find the pictures I posted here of someone in a "proper" suit, standing happily in the fire-fields.

@ Mods... delete this post if you consider it to be a "personal attack" - that won't be a problem for me - I just don't like misinformation being propagated.

EA is in the RED this year too.AND UO player is decreasing prominently, for example,in JP-shard,they could not have 18X18 houses when Stygian Abyss was on sale.but now,There are many many vacant lands.

High Seas should be released as some publish in former days.
I am very concerned about UO.
