n the dark of night they gathered, strange creatures of the night, come to stand around the glowing pentagram in the middle of the floor.
"Feeling nervous, Spyderbite?" was the most commonly asked question, with "where's the bar?" a close second - for the people of the lands of Siege had come to attend the wedding of Katharine and Spyderbite!
The guests came from far and wide, and lined up in the arranged meeting place, waiting for the announcement of the time to begin! The Lady Miranda had outshone herself with designs for the wedding outfits, and as those taking part in the ceremony dressed, several of the women in the room began to think of their own weddings - or at least, how to get a date that night!

Eventually, the call was given to make our way to the temple, specially constructed for the occasion, and we all marveled at the beauty of the design! The keen eyes of my picture imp noted that Elvis had, indeed, left the building, but that was all right, since he wasn't on the guest list in the first place.

Unfortunately, it began to rain before the ceremony could start. Nasty, green rain, and the occasional fireball, mixed in with an arrow or two. So, we all went back inside, to keep the ladies carefully styled hair from being messed about by the rain. In related news, I hear that Wyrm has employed a savage shaman as his weather-forcaster.

Kelmo, Mayor of Iantown, took his official position, and, with talisman of sheep summoning in it's rightful place, began the ceremony!

This is the most sacred day for Spyderbite and Katharine
who pronounce today their vows to each other
and seal for the eternity the bond of their hearts."
He then rummaged through the pages of an ancient tome, and continued:
"For centuries, people have asked one question...
What is my reason for being on this world?
Many a sage hath searched for the answer.
But they all failed in their attempts.
There are those lucky people who do find the answer...
They do not find it in ancient treasure troves,
nor in the depths of secret dungeons or hidden by magic.
Nay, they find it in places where they would least expect it:
Drinking ale in a tavern and looking across the room,
some even when they fight monsters on the battlefield,...
or discuss posts of questionable wisdom in some secret skypage...
The light comes at unexpected moments...
For at such a time, two souls come together,
Two souls ..."
Kelmo looked at the couple and closed the tome.
"who should be.....
as one."
A broad smile filled Kelmo's face, as he asked:
"Who doth give Katharine to be married to Spyderbite?"
Felinious of the Shire answered to this, after a prod in the ribs from the bridesmaids behind him.
Kelmo opened the ancient tome again, and slowly turned his eyes to Spyderbite.
"Spyderbite Please recite your personal vows...."
Spyderbite nodded, and began:

You were my Companion in this world for the longest time
You left my side and I was suddenly forced to walk alone

To fight by each other's side. To Heal each other's wounds.
I treasure the Dark Gift, Katharine.
But you have given me a greater Gift than the Damned could

I am yours now and long after our Mortal friends here today have passed
I give myself to you today. As we can not die, I will fall in battle for you a thousand
times while we exist, Love. I swear this to you on this day of our Union.

Kelmo then turned to Katharine, and, to the tune of synchronised sobbing from several of the ladies, asked her:
"Katharine also recite your personal vows.... "
With a soft smile, Katharine spoke:

My trust in all things,

There may be a time when you will fall, but I will be there to pick you up.
There may come a time when all hope may fade, but I will be there to bring it back.
There will never be a time my love will fade for you, in this life or the next. It will always be.

So sayeth "Yes, I do" "
The groom looked at Katharine, and with a glow in his eyes most unlike any seen in a vampire before, replied "I do"
Kelmo then asked "Katharine,
dost thou take Spyderbite to be your husband,...
to have and to hold in love, honor and tenderness?...
Dost thou promise to love, cherish and honor him,...
as long as you both shall live,...
according to this happy union...
and the sacred covenant of marriage?
So sayeth "Yes, I do" "
With a mischevous smile, she looked at her nervous groom, and answered, "I do".
Kelmo smiled at the two, and turned back to Spyderbite:
"Spyderbite, what symbol of thy love and commitment dost thou bring? "
His eyes grew large as plant bowls, until a hand from behind shoved a small item into his hand, at which he looked down and said "a ring!"
The same was asked of Katharine:
"Katharine, what symbol of thy love and commitment dost thou bring? "
"A ring." she laughed, grinning at the nervous groom.
Kelmo read on:
"A ring, hath no start and hath no end,
but is eternal,
as eternal as your love shall be.
And thus they acted as a sign of love already ...
long before scribes started to document Britannian History.
And as many couples spoke their vows while exchanging their rings
since ancient times,
so shall you two today. "

Happily staring at the couple, Kelmo continued.
"Spyderbite and Katharine,
the citizens have now heard thy vows to each other.
A new age of joy and prosperity starts today for thee.
May the powers that be bless this marriage and watch over thee,
and let no one put assunder this union of heart and soul.
Announce thy love, as long as you both shall live,
and reveal the force of the sacred bond you have sealed today.
And soo... "
The rafters shook as Kelmo loudly intoned:
"By the powers committed to me
and by the laws of Siege Perilous,
I now declare ...
that you, Spyderbite
and you Katharine "
He paused, inhaled, and continued...
"have joined as one...
as husband and wife.
Spyderbite you may now kiss your bride. "
With a happy smile, he addressed the gathering:
"Citizens and friends,
We have now witnessed the wedding between Spyderbite and Katharine.
May we all save for the rest of our life the memory of this sacred day.
A new family is born today, and a new hope of peace and joy
is brought to the lands of Siege.
On behalf of the new couple, I wish to thank you all
for being present at this wedding
and I wish everybody a long and eventful life. "
