This weekend the Traveling Bards Night that is presented by the PGoH (Purple Guardians of Honor) revisited the New Port Theater in Malas. The subject of the evening was “Swords and Sorcery” and all the contestants came prepared with interesting tales to share. Kate Hawkings [RFP] chatted with the audience while waiting for the appointed start time to arrive, and there was also a running joke about a evil hat.. ok a VERY evil hat, from those gathered to listen to the nights bards.
When 9 PM EST rolled around Kate checked the sign in book and stated that there would be four participants in this bards night Lord James [Rose], Lord Scarst [PGoH], Va'lis Razele and Kaylor McKairin.
First up was Lord James who told a story of the last battle of the Magi War! He was followed by Lord Scarst who told a story about the beginning of the old Battle Mages. Then it was Va’lis Razeles turn who told with much joy his tale about earlier in the evening and how he, as part of the Shadowlord faction, helped slay Clainin the mage. Many in the crowd were stunned by this news and refused to clap for him when he was done with his boastful tale. Next up was Kaylor McKairin who a tale of personal history full of violence and passion. In a surprise Eban whom had arrived late asked to be allowed to share a tale with everyone. It was not hard to see he was very inebriated as he stumbled his way up on the stage and started a most confusing tale that everyone had trouble following. Before he could finish his story he passed out in front of everyone and had to be carried off the stage and to his seat.
The three volunteer judges Bob, Keiko and Rameses left shortly after this to make their decision, and soon returned. Bob announced that Kaylor McKairin had take third place. Keiko in her own special way declared James the second place winner. Then Rameses took and informed the waiting crowd that Va'lis Razele was the first place winner, and shocked most of the people gathered. Many once again refused to clap for one of the murders of Clainin, a few grumbles were heard in the room, and a few even walked out of the hall in protest.
Most thanked the host for a nice evening and left as soon as they could to reflect on the evenings events.
