Spring Festival 2011

Friday, April 15
Hosted by both YEW and TWT, under the banner of the alliance "A Sosarian Empire", this past weekend we attended the Spring Festival Friday evening and all day Saturday.
From Sunwolf of YEW:
Today, we revive one of Yew's fondest and most ancient traditions; the celebration of The Grape Harvest. Since time immemorable, the Monks of the Empath Abbey have selected and cultivated some of the finest wine grapes in this land to produce its most remarkable vintages.
Some of which, we will be enjoying soon. But first, we wish to pause to commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of our good Queen Dawn; daughter of Yew, who led the charge against overwhelming odds to defend the land she loved.
We wish to remember those galliant souls, who in our darkest hour gave their life's blood to expell the blight of Virtuebane and his pernicious army from this land, so that we could have this day of celebration. We have additional cause to celebrate, as a new Magincia is being rebuilt as we speak; its people distancing themselves from their once vain glorious roots; instead choosing to follow a more modest path.
We are told that New Magincia will become the eighth city of virtue in this land, dedicated to the virtue of humility. We welcome the community of New Magincia to our "humble"event.
We would also like to thank the monks of the abbey for all their hard work in preparation of the event; From the long hours picking the grapes by hand, the hours stomping them with their feet, and the long hours of sampling each vat. Many of the brothers are passed out right now, presumably from exhaustion.
They really put their sole into their work....and their toes too....... and you can taste it. So, enjoy! And soon we will begin the days events.

The marksmanship competitions were enjoyed by all in attendance. Although I doubted the wisdom of serving such potent wine to people armed with sharp pointy things, no one was injured or killed during the festivities. Suprisingly few steps were blocked with passed out revellers.

I arrived in time to see many prominent citizens from Yew's glory days in attendance. A few of us who had not been to Dawn's Graveside went to pay our respects.
Thankfully only one child was bitten at the Undead Petting Zoo. A fun evening for those in attendance. I particularily enjoyed Draken's Triva of Old Yew Guilds. I grew up in Yew and have many fond memories of my youthful days there.
Well done & thank you, People of YEW.
