The Village of Aegis and the Freehold of Roses held their Yule gathering and party last Sunday (December 19th 2010) at the Knight's Rest Tavern. The building was adorned inside and out with festive decorations that set the perfect holiday mood for anyone that visited it. There was even a purple sea serpent named Merry Christmas swimming around in the pond in front of the tavern. The party itself took place on the first floor where a warm Yule log blazed in the fireplace chasing away the chills from the cold snow filled air outside.
Sage (Rose) acting as the hostess welcomed everyone that came in the door and handed each person a small satchel that contained small gifts such as gingerbread cookie, a box of tea and an apple. Eggnog was also provided for everyone in attendance. Soon afterwards Sage asked if anyone was willing to share a story or a song on the subject of giving. For this is the season of giving and forgiving too.
Sage herself set the tone with a tale about a dark man and a light man and a stolen small wildflower, which turned out to be a story about Sage herself. Chryssie Solic was next and she sang a well know Holiday song with only the joy a child could during the holiday season. This brought a warm feeling to all that was gathered together in friendship this fine evening. Anne Nomilly followed Chryssie with a tale of a little selfless girl who missed her father that was far away and the special gift Santa Claus bestowed to her. Rhett Terith was next with a tale of two men with hunched backs and was a virtues tale of caution and remembering to be respectful of others.
The next part of the evening was a fun filled game of Stuff the Horse. The objective of the game is to see how many people you can put inside one of the new rocking horses without anyone being seen. Each team fitted 5 people into the horse ending this funny game in a tie.
After that everyone who had dressed in their holiday best was called forward to be judged on how nice they looked. Anne Nomilly, Shinigami, Elder EM Kasaven and Aphroditie all competed each taking a turn to model their ensemble for the gathered crowd. Anne Nomilly won the competition, but it was a very hard choice for any judge to make.
Sage and Aedon Durreah followed this up with a duet to entertain the light hearted people full of the holiday spirit. The evening downstairs at the Knights Rest ended with Anne Nomilly being declared the winner of the storytelling event to with her moving tale of a Childs giving heart.
Most everyone moved the party upstairs to the tavern part of the building for some friendly banter and a few libations, but Elder EM Kasaven was soon pulled outside by Aedon for some strange reason. Aedon soon returned and asked everyone to follow him outside, and the group did. He led everyone a short distance away where there burned a fire surrounded by benches set up in a square shape around it. On the far log sat EM Santaven and EM Barnaby was there too wearing a festive red hat. Each person took a turn going up and telling EM Santaven what they wanted for Christmas and then took a seat on one of the benches around the fire. When everyone had taken their turn EM Santaven announced that was going to spread the holiday spirit in Luna and left the party. Leaving everyone to reflect on what was a fun and laugh filled evening of friends spending time together in the spirit of the holidays.
