[NEWS]Luna Design Contest Details

The Lord Mayor of Luna has decided that new fairgrounds should be built just outside Luna city limits. Designers are needed to create the ideal space for Atlantic’s community events and festivals.

How to participate:

1. The space to be decorated is between the northern wall of the Bag Ball Arena and the city wall of Luna and can extend up to the road and edge of the void; see boards marking the area.

2. Prepare a design using a graphics program and Inside UO. You may use items out of Inside UO as part of your creative design. http://uo.stratics.com/heptazane/insideuo/index.shtml

3. Describe the features of your design and uses for the area you have designed.

4. Turn in a link showing the completed design and description to: [email protected]his e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and [email protected]his e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Monday, October 12, 2009 at Midnight EST.

Rewards: If your design is selected, you will receive a plaque at the EM Hall and everlasting fame as a top Atlantic designer! This is your chance to make a huge impact on Atlantic and to create a lasting monument for your community.

Note: Designs may be changed at the discretion of game staff. Workable designs only, overly complex designs will be sent back to the drawing board. Please see the fairgrounds on the shards of Chesapeake, Sonoma in Luna or Catskills (Britain fields) for examples of winning designs.

Wow, that's pretty sweet.

For the sake of my friends and fellow Atlantians, I will refrain from entering this contest. Instead, I'll defer to all the creative types we have.

Go get 'em, creative types.

Sorry I always peek in when I see design contests. I have an over view pictures of what I designed on Chesapeake. In case you all didn't want to run around Chesapeake.

I Cannot WAIT to see what you guys on Atlantic come up with!! Im excited and I only visit your shard. Good look to all you creative decorators!!!!

*This might work to help you out. Sometimes don't design every space. Your
EMs might want to add some stuff of their own. Not sure how your EMs are but,
I hear they are some of the top Ems*

Okay good luck again.... Sorry im really excited to see your guys fairgrounds!!
Arent JC and Vlad from your shard? I hope Vlad enters something and JC.

Can anyone provide a little help on the technique used to do this? When I try using the tiles from InsideUO the white area gets copied with it. I've tried using fuzzy select with GIMP and doing the tiles as new layers but it seems like it would be absurdly time consuming? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Ok, I figured it out. Blonde moment I guess because it's just a little option in Paint I forgot to change!

Some constructive criticism Vlad? Quit trying to add every damn guild, group, or name that some people on Atlantic would know, and finish the buildings instead of having little 4x4 shantys laying about the fairground. =\

Edit; IB4 "WHERES UR DESIGN NOXIMUS"

Vlad, your design goes to the west of the Bagball arena. However boards placed by the EM do not allow decorations in that area.

JC all I know is that the other fairgrounds I saw used that space so I did as well... those boards there as far as I can tell are not there for any reason. I also learned that with these kinda competitions its better to push it then not I got yelled at by alot of folks about not adding stuff around the bank.

Thought I should post my design since the contest is now over. Congrats to Buns of Glory for the winning design! :D

A couple things to note:
  • The theme for this design was "Bringing a bit of Britannia to Luna." I used our local Ren Fest as inspiration.
  • The thought behind adding the 18x18 plot was for the Em's to use in a variety of ways and it may be easier to customize for events than to add items to the landscape itself. I don't know what kind of flexibility they have in building stuff.
  • The fortune teller tent needed to be dyed a deep scarlet red

I also wanted to give a big "Thank you!" to Hunter Moon for brainstorming help with this design. She kept me on track when my imagination went off on a tangent.

Pics are rather large...

Nice job Zym! The 18x18 looks a little out of place but otherwise I think it's awesome.
