Then perhaps UO Stratics' Pacific News Page is the place where you can not only show off your talent but also help bring the community together with interesting, exciting stories and news items about the Pacific Shard and her citizens.

UO Stratics is currently looking for active, talented citizens to add to our crack team of top-notch Ultima Online reporters.

As a volunteer you are required to:

* Be a competent writer
* Be an active, knowledgeable member of the Pacific community
* Be willing to attend events and quests, interview VIPs, report news of interest to the community
* Be able to dedicate a minimum of three hours per week to writing and/or posting news items
* Have a familiarity with basic HTML
* Be pro-active
* Be diplomatic and impartial
* Work well with the fabulous Pacific Team

I still get a few things out, not as much as I'd like the EM's are keeping us too busy playing and not leaving us the time to report! I swear I won't talk about poop to any new reporters and I won't even tell em what grape koolaid does! lol

There does tend to be a high turnover rate for reporters, but that's just standard. When I was the Pac news manager and a reporter, we had countless who would start out guns a blazin' and then die out quickly. Having more reporters for Pacific should help with burn out by spreading the workload out between them. Its like any position of responsibility, some do it for love of the community and some do it for the fame/power/notoriety. The ones who don't have that love won't last because as every moderator and long-time reporter knows... you sure as hell don't deal with the names for the 'fame'.

I encourage folks to put in an application and give it a try. If anyone needs some story ideas, PM and I'll help you out with ideas. I did it for quite awhile and always willing to help.

Reporting doesn't have to be just events and interviews. You have the chance to express what you love about the game and really be creative.

If you're into house design, do some news pieces with a house design of the week or seasonal homes.

If you're a merchant, highlight a mall of the week. Can also do rune libraries.

If you do pvm, ask to tag along with a large guild and do a news story with screenshots and tactical advice of various spawns/peerless/etc.

Is there a hot topic in UO right now? Interview folks in-game and do a poll asking them questions.

Like fashion? Do an occasional piece showing some of the outfits you see worn by other players that you thought looked great.

Tons of other topics to expand on, including pvp, em events, etc. The only limits is your creativity.

I loved being a reporter even if it gave me a headache sometimes. Pacific is a fantastic community to work with. I encourage anyone to give it a shot. The worst thing that happens is you decide you don't have that passion and you stop. The best thing is you might discover just how much fun and fulfilling reporting can be. I'd honestly take up reporting again for one of the shards if I had the time. Do it passion. Not for attention.

P.S. Take time to thank at least one of the reporters/moderators. You'd be surprised at how much drama they have to deal with behind the scenes and how much time/coding it can take to even get up a "cut and paste" announcement. It can be a lot of work with very few thank yous.

Thank you Assia. You obviously were a very good News Manager. We are trying to fill the spots so that the existing reporters don't burn out and still have time to play the game & have fun being a reporter. Many hands make light work as they say.

Lyconis, I have two dedicated Reporters just for EM duty on Atlantic because our EMs are very active so I understand how much it takes to look after them properly.

I sincerely hope that I will at least get a few applications from Pacific folks. We have two very good reporters here but I would like to see a few more added to the team so we can expand into more areas. My greatest wish is to preserve the stories of the people, guilds & establishments of as many shards as I can. I need help for that. If you are at all interested please contact me.
