Replying just because it seems no one cares less whether KR gets patched or not.

man this patch is taking forever to apply for me hehe

It did for me too.
Haven't noticed anything different. Let me know if ya'll do.

While we care that KR gets updated, this one doesn't have a whole lot of actual... meat... to it at least in terms of the issues that most KR players have been reporting and listing.

Utterly predictable that people are trying to turn the news report into yet another flame KR thread.

One thing I find hard to get used to with KR patching is the way it tends to freeze up the entire computer at various points while applying the patch. Very distracting while one is trying to read stratics

- I concur.

Still, it is a good thing in my mind for UO to be removing stuck areas and fixing up the tiling on both clients. Every KR patch can't be the big patchurdays we all love (well we KR optimists love), but progress is progress.

This dial up user gave up with an 800MB patch. So, no it doesnt concern me.

any word on fixing the client crashes?
inventory staying open on logging?
aquariums and other menus?

*sigh*

I might be able to fix the second one. I've added the ability for the minimap to stay visible after logout, I can probably find the way to get the backpack/inventory to be open when you log in.

The other two are out of my league.

This dialup user gave up trying to patch in October and removed KR from her computer.

Looking further into the code, I'm not sure how possible this is going to be from a client tweak point.

Looks like the devs need to add in a WindowVisibleSetting variable to the WindowSettings portion of the character data files so that if you log out with a given UI element open, it loads as open when you log back in.

I know this guy who used to play like 5 years ago, from another forum I frequent. Lo and behold, he decided to come back to UO. He started out with KR.

After 5 hours of downloading client + patching I log in; the new client is ass. Its shiny, but literally gave me a headache after 5 minutes. I am torrenting the old client now.

[/ QUOTE ]
Congratulations, dev team, on creating another "upgraded" client that nobody wants to use. I didn't think it was possible to screw up that badly with history's example right in front of you.

Once again, NOTHING of substance fixed in KR...

It's like applying touch-up paint to the remains of a building that got demolished before ever being completed.

Entire features in KR have hardly any functionality at all. Some don't even exist, and they are fixing stuck areas.

*rolls eyes so far they get lodged in my toes*

Further proof, if any needed, (especially since that last 800MB cosmetic patch that did nothing at all to fix the actual problems with KR), that the company has no interest in doing anything to improve KR.

BRING BACK 3D! BRING BACK 3D! BRING BACK 3D! BRING BACK 3D! BRING BACK 3D!

Agreed on the lack of substance, but it seems to be part and parcel (since it was both client receiving the same patch basically) a part of the next Publish which is a reasonably big "fix it" publish.

Hopefully, according to the statement from Jeremy about a Patch next week if it happens will have some substantive improvements for KR.

If KR doesnt really improve soon I would also say:

.....Or perhaps I just should find a buyer for my castle, get all my stuff into the bank and close account and wait....or just forget the whole thing and let the castle with all things in it drop and end an era of 7 years UO.....

THanks for the KR update. It is great to see that the details are being worked out. I hate nay sayers. It is insane to think that we should stay with 10 year old technology. If the processor burns out on your stupid 386-box, guess what, your pc will have a nice dual core intel processor as well.

Dial up is so fricking war games 80-ies anyway. Last time I heard the modem "hand shake" was when my Atari 800xl was downloading a cool pixel game from a BBS. Please, lets keep this game alive for ever, support the KR client. While you are at it, welcome yourself into the 21st century.

Oh, by the way, you will need to upgrade your TV to digital TV also by the year 2009. Maybe it is time to turn in your black and white 12 inch boop tube for something with color as well...

(sarcasm on) Oh, and I only use the 2-D client to macro up my skills, and gather my resources, with a script anyway, so can we please work on some nice scripting programs for KR also? (sarcasm off again)
