I arrived at Dark Tower 30 minutes before the event and presented myself to Alton, the new Master of Dark Tower. After a short conversion, I took a seat and watched as other people arrived.</p>
Shortly after the appointed time, Lady Cymidei Fier, requested and received permission from Alton to open a portal to the site of the ceremony. We found ourselves in front of the Spider Temple in the Hedge Maze on Felucca. The temple itself and the grounds around it were richly decorated with bright jewels, reagents and body parts.</p>

The members of Dark Tower entered the temple and turned to face the crowed. Alton gave a short speech and they entered the temple. We followed them into the temple and took up places along the walls.</p> <p align="center">

Lady Fier started the ritual by lighting eight braziers placed within the temple. After that the temple was purified by Adeath, the Cabal of Darkness, with chanting and a twilight lantern. While Adeath was purifying the temple, Alton was chanting in Drow, the language of the Dark Elves, and burning the gems and reagents in the braziers.</p> <p align="center">

Between the chanting and the smoke from the braziers, we were slowly memorized into a dream-like trance by the ritual. I remember startling slightly when hundreds of tiny spiders poured out of the twilight lantern and climbed up the walls of the temple and into the spider webs. After that, Adeath presented Alton with an object wrapped in very dark shadow cloth. Alton unwrapped it and showed the crowd an eight-bladed black steel knife in the spider. Alton then summoned Cymidei Fier, gave her with knife and commanded her to find the sacrifice among the members of the crowd.</p> <p align="center">

She then walked among us, slashing the knife and taunting and menacing the crowd. We were unsure which one of us she would pick. She pulled a man named Vaughn McCloud out of the crowd. He resisted her efforts but she overcame him and at the end, he pleaded for his life. However, by then, it was too late. The spell over the crowd was broken by his death. Nothing remained of his body except bits of bone. The spiders returned to the twilight lantern, an item magically appeared where Vaughn McCloud was sacrificed; Adeath picked it up and handed it to Alton. Alton announced that Lloth had given her blessing to Dark Tower.</p>
Lady Fier doused the braziers then Alton announced that the sacrifice complete. After a short closing speech, we were all gated back to Dark Tower and left from that place haunted by what we had just seen.</p> </td> </tr> </table></body>
