Cloaks Cause Commotion
Publish 59 hit the shards yesterday beginning the end of the Shadowlord event plan & while everyone’s curiosity is peeked about the events to come (What do you mean Crimson Dragons VS Platinum Dragons!? Sweet!) it’s the newly released cloaks that have caught everyone’s attention!
I decided to go out & see what all the hubbub was about & my first stop was Moonglow’s Lycaeum, where Bartholomen the Seer will give you the quest for the Cloak of Power. There I found people popping in & out, finishing up or starting the quest for cloaks, & I tried to chat with a few to see how everyone was enjoying this new quest.
A very kind warrior in white, Alexander, stopped to chat with me about the event. ‘I think it’s good that they are making special clothing. I love the cloaks & the clothing replicas.’ Though he did note that he wasn’t fond of the cloaks being elfish in style, he mentioned that they would sell well.
Lanfear, of the guild MSI, was also hanging around the Lycaeum & had a few moments to spare. She told me that she would be collecting all of the cloaks & hoped to get two of each style for her collection. ‘I will probably use the one with dci for my red tamer.’
After watching people turn in their threads for Cloaks of Power I headed off Empath Abbey to where I met up with Serenity of ODE & Death Bringer of @!@ who had just turned in their threads of life to Graham the Seer for a Cloak of Corruption! They told me they had just come from what is left of our once beautiful Magincia. ‘It’s a hassle to beat people to the souls because everyone is there,’ they confided! Then they offered to take me along with them to turn in the rest of their threads! (Thanks guys!)
Off we went to Serpent’s Hold to get a Cloak of Death from Gorman the Seer. Threads were exchanged & quick as could be Serenity had herself a lovely night black cloak for her collection.
Then it was full circle (for me), back to the Lycaeum where the pair turned in their last threads for a Cloak of Power. The seer there had his hands full as people flooded him either requesting the quest or filling the pockets of his robe with threads of thought.
Among the crowd was Vion, of UWF, who was the only person I spoke to all night who had killed a Shadowlord! (Everyone else had saved the cloaks needed to complete this section of the quest, from the Black Detector event that was held last March 2008. ) Vion (whose guild title is ironically ‘If It Moves Kill It’) claimed to have killed the first Shadowlord to spawn on Atlantic. ‘Two of us killed it with the help of a greater dragon. I got the first hit in & the first kill on the shard!’ He said that the Shadowlords pretty easy to kill, even ‘solo-able.’
After chatting with a few more people & watching the crowds ebb & flow around the seers, I decided to check out Magincia. I popped through the gate & ran down to the rubble of what was once a great city. Piles of souls lay in the streets. Warriors & mages were running here & there, racing to release the souls from their torment & hopefully be rewarded with a thread. I watched for awhile as people darted around dispatching the wandering souls with whatever means necessary. I have to say that it looked a bit like chaos but everyone seemed to be having a great time.
I decided to call it a night but I wanted to make one more stop before I hit the sack, Luna. Sure enough, I found what I was looking for, already citizens were standing at the cramped bank trying to sell the newly obtained cloaks! & I am sure they will be a hot item for quite awhile.
