Robert the Royal Guard: The forces at work here are astonishing, I fear for Britannia! Clainin has fled from here and he is safe, for now!
Katherine Elle: And where has he fled?
Robert the Royal Guard: I cannot disclose, or this madness will be repeated with no one to protect him! He is in secret. I fear no force can protect him. Agh! Clainin is under the protection of a powerful city. Yet I cannot name which, until the need is most dire. We fear that the Lady Mellisa wishes to abduct him, and in his state he would be easily forced to evil.. and Clainin as a dark power would shed much more blood than was shed this day.
Calina: You distracted us with an ambush and he just so happens to disappear?
Robert the Royal Guard: I work for Lord British and Britannia. No distractions! You all saved Clainin's life for this day! For Clainin is the future of Britannia as we know it. I am a Lieutenant and was under Lord British, as well as when we had no Lord. I am the highest ranked soldier left, I am afraid. The Royal Guard has been ravished with these invasions. With Clainin safe I believe the invasions will end. Clainin's safety is reward enough for anyone. If anyone would please seclusion and secrecy are his only safeties, for now. We hope the invasions will end, with Clainin's resurgence, I think it was he they were after. (Katherine then asked Robert how many of the Royal Guard are left.) Few I am afraid, Katherine. Many have been slain in the Ophidian war and the invasions. Our numbers dwindle, which is why we rely on the people.
Katherine Elle: Robert, I have a final question. Will you personally be assigned to helping protect Clainin?
Robert the Royal Guard: Katherine, I do not know where he is either. None can know! None are free from torture or treason. Our king knows. I will answer any question if you speak it. As for joining the guard.. We will be taking recruits in the future. Though without taxes, money is slim, and there would be few benefits.. We will be taking able bodies men and women, of age of course to protect Clainin. Coming in the next few days… Rewards for the guard?? You get to serve Britannia, of course! I have received not in my 8 years of service other than to stand by my king and country, and this shiny sash.. *moves hand over sash*
Calina: Casca does not serve Britannia, so being his guard is simply serving *him*... not the land.
Robert the Royal Guard: Of course the guard serves the land, not Casca! Though there are few of us we hold council over his decisions and execute them as we see fit.
Calina: Robert, if you all were to discover the Casca was corrupt, would you protect him still?
Robert the Royal Guard: He is king; there is no way around that. If in his corruptness, he inadvertently protected the land?? I would serve him. I do not think he is corrupt, if he is, his methods do not betray it. I would not execute a man who does not brandish blade against me. Exile, though, is another matter. For now it is in the peoples, and The Royal Guard's best interest to protect Clainin from himself and from other evils. Until he is fully healed. And what makes me trust Casca is that he told me, in council, that he would BOW to Clainin if he comes back to health and mind. I have many skills! (When asked if there was more the people could do for him tonight he answered.) Not now, no. But neigh the weekend I feel that Clainin will be sought by much greater evils than we have faced this day. Then FEAR! I do not. If Casca wanted Clainin dead could he not do so while he slept? Though one did try to take his life. We do not know who she was employed by, though..
Lerth Clot: Clainin knows something that Casca needs
Robert The Royal Guard: Hmm.. Clainin knows much that would be of great benefit to us ALL, and he would be able to tell us, more than any. Whether Casca speaks sooth or spits falsehoods.
Calina: And he knows that if Clainin were to mysteriously 'die' that shadow would be cast on him
Robert the Royal Guard: If Clainin dies under his current protection it will fall on Casca to answer or be exiled! By the people and the guard.. You all have my word on that. I will leave you all for now. I thank you again for your protection where the guard lacks, at the moment keep your eyes peeled for any new evils, and I have a feeling we shall see again neigh this weekend! I hope to see some of you under my employ, soon. *winks* Goodbye!
