October Best Shot In The Realm

Toni Fierce, GM of Misfits of Society, with fears of wild Imps, daemons and other evil creatures of All Hallows Eve, held October's Best Shot in the Realm on Saturday, October 24th, and spared 22 adventurous shooters from having to deal with unkind buttes and also creatures of the night.

A lineup of proven past winners, many other talented archers highly capable of capturing the crown at any time, and one person who seemed to always have an illegal bow in her hands. Warned numerous times during this night and also in previous BSRs she still managed to shoot the 2nd round illegally and had her scores erased, but was allowed to re-shoot, amid some unkind words and catcalls from the crowd.

M!S, sponsor of this year's BSR and in the tradition of the Society of Archers, has few rules, but one is the use of only manmade or NPC bought bows . Any archer without a legal bow is provided with one.

Moving on to the 1st round with Toni Fierce giving welcomes and instructions to the gathered shooters the contest began. As usual, most of this talented group used this 70 point round as merely practice with only Lynx, a new shooter, falling aside and receiving the 50,000 gold consolation check. Also in this round Elizabeth posted the nights 1st Robin Hood.

The 2nd round found the archers finding their marks with only one other archer failing to reach round 3. Doc, Jonah, Katsumato, Llama, and Maleki showed the crowd that any of them could win by posting Robin Hoods (RHs) early.

The 3rd round, where only perfection will move you forward, found 10 more shooters falling aside, and Robin Hoods from Katsumato again, and also BruceLee and Kiljaedon. Of the 10 shooters who moved to the Champion Round there were five who already posted RHs.

The 4th round found the Champion of the Month with Howard Hill putting up the 200 and winning score, but was tightly contested by Brucelee and Drusilla who also posted Robin Hoods but added an inner ring shot to fall 40 points shy of the title.

Howard Hill, an obviously accomplished, shooter seemed awed by his win and was awarded the engraved bow , a 1,000,000-gold check , and a seat in the years end Champions Of Champions shootoff ... CONGRATS Howard Hill!!!

The next BSR will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 8:30pm Pacific (9:30pm Mountain, 10:30pm Central, 11:30pm Eastern) at the Skara Brae Faire Grounds. M!S encourages all archers to come and compete for their chance to win!
