An Early Morning … What a Blast

“I cannot believe I overslept; not today!” Even in wolf form the young stealther felt she was moving too slowly to make it to Britain on time. She grumbled as she ran through the country side; it was far too early for an adventure.

She had heard there was to be a test of an explosive that hopefully would open a hole in the stone of Serpent Isle and her intuition had told her this might be a dangerous happenstance; the combination of feeling responsible to help her new community and the exhilaration of possible battle was a powerful attractive force.

She entered Britain and slowed momentarily, entered stealth and rounded the corner to the bank. She exhaled with relief when she saw the portal was still open. As she stepped through she found guardsmen and citizens waiting in anticipation of the experiment. She moved through the group for a better view.

No one noticed the gray wolf as Lancepesade Kimmel began instructing Mrykrid Ashen to pour the reactiv on the fuse. The crowd was tense, tamers moving closer to their massive beasts for protection, others urged Mrykrid to take cover. Slowly the reactive burned the fuse reaching the explosive. There was a massive flash of light, followed by an earth shattering shock wave and when the smoke cleared, indeed they had succeeded in opening a hole in the stone.

It was as if the opening had an undeniable attractive force and she watched it pull everyone into the unknown. The stealther dropped into the darkness and found the path blocked by stone arranged in a pattern, a puzzle. Quickly the group solved the puzzle and moved into the main chamber.

The “wolf” stopped and stared at what they had found.

There was to be no reasoning with the blue daemon and a terrible battle began. Many of the loyal guard fell to the daemon’s power. Only the skill of the healers saved them from true death. They had no choice and with regrets and remorse they defeated the blue daemon.

As the guard surveyed the chamber they found a chest with a book inside. The book was in a strange tongue. It took some time and tested the mental acuity of the guard but it was soon decoded.

The guard returned to Britain still puzzled by the occurrences of the day

The young thief thought outloud "Why is it these words plague my mind? What did that guardsmen mean?"

She left the town, thankful to be back in the shadows but the words of the Royal Guardmen condintued to haunt her ...

"This is starting to get big Lancepesade…”
