hile wandering along the peaceful waterfront of Buccanner's Den, I heard my staff strike an object with a 'clunk'ing noise. Upon investigation, it turned out to be a bottle, half-hidden in the sand.

<table width="5%" align="center" border="1" bordercolor="#ff0000"> <tr> <td>

Unfortunately, the original contents were long gone, but there were a few rolled up scrolls inside, kept dry by the merits of the large cork in the neck of the bottle, and a small fragment of phoenix eggshell within.

Strangely, the writing on the scrolls was in Braille. Wondering at this, I started reading the first of the three, that I may translate it to the common text for you good folk.

<table height="574" width="524" border="0" cellpadding="75"> <tr> <td background="http://uo.stratics.com/newspics/siege/parchment_back.jpg">Be warned you Insolent land lubbers...

I've been searching the seas for my wife, Katharine, for several moons now. Only recently have I discovered where she's being held by you Insolent Mortals.

With my fleet of ships, I mean to sack the city that holds her and retake my Bride.

On the 25th day of this month, the Pirates of Sosaria shall leave a wake of bodies in our path.. and perhaps rebirth a few new Vampires in the process.

Challenge us? Its possible. Defeat us? Unlikely.

<table height="574" cellpadding="75" width="524" border="0"> <tr> <td background="http://uo.stratics.com/newspics/siege/parchment_back.jpg">But, for those looking to seek the booty of treasures I've collected these past months, keep an eye out for a black raven may land upon your window ledge with clues to where I might be taking port.
I have taken the Insolent called Exodus aka Cybernickel into my custody and will take his chests of treasure with me as well once I've rescued my wife from you disgusting Mortals.

Don't fool yourselves in to thinking this will be an easy task. First you must find the City which holds my wife. Then fight off my crew of Pirates and comrades in order to receive a clue as to where I might be sailing next.

</td></tr></table>

<table height="574" cellpadding="75" width="524" border="0"> <tr> <td background="http://uo.stratics.com/newspics/siege/parchment_back.jpg">I haven't given you all the cards, you land bound misfits! I have also taken several other hostages as well. To find me, you'll need to find and rescue them first! *chuckles and bares a fang* Perhaps a few names may ruffle the hay in your stables.. Kat of TnT.. Ibichi of the Gypsies.. The honorable merchant Maleeka.. and the crafter Sissy of Iantown! I may just grab a few more hostages along the way.. just for fun.. or hunger.

I am off to rescue my beloved from your foul mortal clutches.. in the meantime.. this blind man shall carry further tidings as The Night of a Pirate's Siege gets nearer!

This confused me greatly. How could whatever wave-swept person tossed this into the sea know that I would find it?
And, why write it in Braille? But, the arrival of my good scribe Beatrice solved that mystery,as she told me of a shadowy figure in a tricorne hat who she had seen some way down the beach, leaving bottles in my path!
Apparently he was becoming most frustrated as I missed first one, then another, and yet another!
This message was recent, and the sender wanted it to be noticed!

So, it seems good Cybernickel is in peril, as are several others!
Some, I know, will rush to their aid. Others will be less quick to lend a hand - but to those less noble individuals, I hasten to point out that his captor is in posession of the contents of Cybernickel's store houses. Ah, I thought that might get your attention.

Good hunting to ye! I am sure that more information will appear shortly!
And, don't forget to stock up on, and drink plenty of, sea sickness potions. They're the green ones, I'm told.

It is about time you finally found one of the notes I left for you blind man!

Yet more members of your pathetic mortal society have been taken! My crew is verifying their identities at the moment. But, I'll be sure to let you know who else's life is now at stake in addition to the those named in my missive!

*grins evilly, fangs bared*

Spyder pulled on the chain with all his weight, lifting the cover to the hull. Once he'd secured it, he held the torch over the darkness below illuminating it with an dark ominous glow.

"Where are you taking us?" came a soft voice from the darkness below.

The Vampire held his torch into the hull to see the face of his captive who had spoken to him, regardless that he had recognized the voice.

"Ibichi.. My friend" he smiled, his fangs bared in the light of the torch, "Do not consider yourselves hostages". The Vampire's bright red irises glowed as he considered his words, "Think of yourselves as my 'guests'.. or Insurance if you prefer. I WILL liberate Katharine without the meddlesome do-gooders getting in my way! Especially when they're busy rescuing all of you pathetic Mortals".

A cough from the depths of the sea bound prison caught all their attention, and they watched as a single man struggled forward.

"I called you my friend! I've always trusted you with my life, my family and my belongings! If I had my Pet Balls, I'd.."

Breaking into a fit of coughing, the ragged man was unable to continue. SpyderBite sneered down on his guests as he spoke.

"If you had any balls at all, you'd have never been taken, little man".

With a rush of white robes he turned his attention toward the stern..

"Captain Tefret!" he yelled.

"Aye Admiral?" came a voice from the dark.

"Take us towards Yew". He looked back down upon his prisoners with pleasure in his undead eyes. He especially noted the look of deep and dangerous anger in the eyes of the woman named Kat of Stonehaven.

Smiling at her, he continued with his instructions.

"We have one more... 'Guest'.. to pick up in the Wispwood Shire".

The lid of the hull slammed shut before the Iantown crafter, Sissy could scream...

Weren't there not a level 6 in that bottle? I found such a bottle on the shores of the Bucs Den and it spawned me a little brown Philly.?

There may have been a level 6 map in the bottle, but I fear that while Otto was testing the contents, he inadvertantly swallowed it. I was barely able to rescue the other scrolls in time!

Now, I just hope that the chest guardians don't spawn in Otto's stomach, if there was a map in there! I'm not cleaning THAT mess up! Ewww.

Oh... you will die... long and painfully! You forget I can get directions to where you live and someone who'd be happy to let me through that door... so keep it up

And Bea when are you gonna stop letting Otto put everything in his mouth? Gah he's worse than a 2 year old I swear! hehehe

I set aside a rather spiffy (although not "uber") captain's hat for Spyder, so he would look fashionably dashing for the prisoners (Geneva Convention standards, and such) but since it seems he will soon not have a head to put it on, I suppose it will not be necessary.

If he wears anything other then a dread pirates hat for this event I'll be sorely disappointed.

Postponed approximately a week.. perhaps two. We were reminded that many people go out of town during the holiday weekend in the States and we want to be sure that everyone who wants to participate will have an opportunity.
[/ooc]

Cursed Kelmo!, he thought. I've always known he was one sprig of nightshade short of bundle.. but, now I must delay my plans briefly.

Leaping upon his undead unicorn, he made his way towards the Tomb to meet with Katharine's brother who should have already arrived. He was not looking forward to the confrontation. Explaining he and Katharine's transformation since they'd last met was not going to be an easy task. And even harder will be explaining her disappearance and current captivity.
