Newer mage where to hunt?

Hi

I currently have 88.0 magery. I summon a demon to hunt with. I've been hunting in Wind but the spawn is slow and I only get 2 or 3 kills before my demon vanishes.

I tried Wisp dungeon in Ilshenar...the money is a little faster in coming...but when I tried to kill a paragon wisp...that didn't go to well.

Can someone give me an idea of a good place to hunt with a summoned demon where I'll have time to summon the demon (I fizz alot between casts) and can earn a decent amount of gold? Are there any places in Ilshenar or Tokuno I can earn artifacts too?

I don't have that great of equipment so a hard dungeon or area is out. Thanks!

Depends where in Wind you're fighting. The lower East corner is a very fast daemon and drake spawn, with the occasional dragon. You should be able to make decent gold there if you can handle it.

Summoned Demons can kill dragons?

And when I looked there were like a couple demons there, plus some drakes and a dragon. A little much for me I think?

I would imagine so... can't say I have too much experience using summoned daemons, but you never know until you give it a go, right? Good luck!

If you have the time, Summoned Blades probably would work good in areas better than trying to get your summon demon spell to take root at 88 magery. If you have access to a nice vendor that can make tons of EV scrolls, you can hunt almost anywhere with the nice EV's and easily make back the money.

I like going to Elder gazers in shame. Using EV scrolls, you can rake in the gold very fast. 2 evs cost you 400 gold in scrolls, while easily killing about 8ish elder gazers before they poof. which rakes you in about 2500 gold plus stuff. Good tradeoff. Sadly now you have to gate/recall in and out alot more since bags of sending don't work anymore.

I would imagine that using a +magery ring or book or bracelet would be a better option than running around with scrolls. Of course, I did that all the way from 88 real skill to 110 real with a +12 magery ring (cheap to find). It worked well for me and let me hunt with people I usually couldn't hunt with.

My favorite things to hunt (solo) were Ilshenar demons (Blood dungeon) with the occasional balron thrown in. I couldn't handle the paragon balrons alone. Still can't with my mage. I also spent quite a bit of time with elder gazers in shame, but that was for the 10th anniversary thing.

The best thing to do (IMHO) would be to buy a slayer spellbook and kill those things. They can be expensive but save up and buy your first one. You'll be able to earn more gold and kill things much easier. My favorite is my demon slayer and I like to hunt Ice Fiends in Ice Dungeon. Combine a demon slayer with fire based spells and I kill Fiends with 1 explosion/flamestrike combo.

Why do you hunt with a summoned Deamon? Is that an RP thing? You loose Karma when you summon them and if you can summon one of those buggers you can cast an EV... in fact you can cast two ev's.

First, find yourself a magery ring. A slayer book will cost you a fortune and it's got limited use. If you can afford it, a Tome of Lost Knowledge. You could also get an Alchemist's Baubel. That will help you keep you from fizzing.

I've always enjoyed training in "Demon Alley" in Ilshenar. Take the Compassion gate and work NE till you find the buggers. There is a gypsy camp at the top of Demon Alley where you can get rezzed and bank. There is a combination of open/hilly terrain which will help you learn about reliably casting EV's (and avoiding trees when you run away). In fact thats one reason I like to train there... unlike a dungeon you have open space you can use to your advantage.

While your EV's have the deamon distracted you can pound it with other spells and build your skill level. Or, you can just invis and wait to collect your gold while you regen manna/hp. I'm assuming that you already know how important manna regen is gonna be to you, right?

If a paragon spawns and you kill it you may recieve a Valor Reward. I guess they are minor arties. Shield of Invuln, Knight's Kiss.. some others.

You will earn 550-650 gold per Demon and recently I've been getting almost 2k off the paragons. Some nice jewels and stuff too. Might even get your magery ring off one if you survive.

There is a steady spawn rate and sometimes it gets downright hairy but you can use that open space to pick your battles. There are imps there too. Do not underestimate them. If you ignore them while you are fighting a Demon you will die. You're better off just killing em first then dealing with the Demon. They will go right past your EV and hit you with curse/poison etc whereas the Demons seem to be more likely to get distracted by an EV. Sometimes if you invis yourself the Demon will forget about you and just fight your EV.

Couple of final notes... if there are other folks hunting and you are using EV's, be polite and dispel them after you make your kill. Get a horse if you dont have one... you can't outrun a para. And... orange petals.
