And its time for a little Christian charity I feel.

The Newbie or Noob - Often the most scornfully referred to characters in UO. A term used by people in an attempt to put others down. A term of contempt and ridicule. And yet, said newbies are the lifeblood of UO, without a steady influx of them, UO CANNOT survive in its present form for long. The slow and steady drain of long time players will bleed the life from it.

So my plea is for a little more tolerance for the newbie and a recognition of their very real importance.
I cannot speak for other shards, I assume they have the same, but on Europa we have long had Guilds dedicated to the new player, too many actually to list, and been fortunate enough to have players who made their role in UO to do just that. Help the newbie.

Lord Tyrghen did it for years but unfortunately appears to have joined the steady number of players leaving. Currently we have Minerva Foxglove and a wonderful job she does.

We also have a group of crafters who meet each day at Brit bank for an hour every day for repairs, help and assistance generally. A fairly recent innovation but a very welcome one.

I intend to actively look for new players over the next week and assist as I can. I have helped occasionally in the past when asked so a little more effort is required on my part.

This will be limited by the time I can actually play and a few things I do regularly but I will make the effort. Based on past events I suspect I will need the patience of a saint in the short term but hey! that is what Xmas is all about.

In conclusion let me say, Help the newbie, we need them.

I agree completely, without new players UO has nothing, sadly on Atlantic the majority of new player guilds have slowly died, or broken up into guilds that mean well but are to small to effectively help. the new player versus vet player dilemma is the same as the pvper versus "trammie" issues, just as pvpers cant entertain themselves long without having fresh faces and guilds....all of which come from trammel, vet players get bored and eventually fade away from the game without new people to play with.

Thanks Bobar, both for kind words and for helping newcomers! Thyrgen/Paidric was my guildleader in our help guild for many years . When he left I went on with my New Player House at Trinsic moongate some years ago with support from many players and the group in Britain . They do the job that was done at the Britain Forge in the past .Great people.

Cant agree more that we need the new and returning players. Even thoose who dont stay long ..they pay for a while and if the experience of people and game is good..they will be back again for a while..and pay. Often more than once.

Also they bring alot of action to the game. We old ppl have everything and have done the most. We have lots of chars and recources to make their outfits etc. They are more ambisious, They need stuff, they buy from our vendors. They remind us about our early days .. Doing the same misstakes even.. The community need them. For our own sake. Yes, im one of the most selfish people in UO , I dont want my second world to end.
