as the title says i am a bit of a newbie i played uo back in y2k got 6 lgm bs for the scroll farming but then left to join daoc wich i have played on and off for 7 years now..

i am returning today to make a thief wich i never did in my year playing uo and have been reading the forums a little and have a couple of questions!

what is seige? is this a server?
what is a production shard?

how should i go about my buisness of lvling my skills and how should i keep myself from becoming a 'red' named toon?

any more help would be great i am still dling client and eager to find out more and update myself on the current uo way of life!!

siege is all fel rule set everywhere.
Siege has sticky on top, which gives useful information.

Don't murder, and you will not become red.

Thieves are the elite not only on siege, but on every shard. If this one can help you, he shall. He must finish helping 2 others first though. But that would let you get started if this is your wish.

As you correctly said Siege is a shard, and in my oppinion the best shard of all!
Production shards are ok but you will have to work a little harder as item insurance has all but sucked the ass out of stealing, unless you are willing to put some time in that is!

Touzoko is a great thief, he has really helped me as i was in your position just a few short weeks ago but it will call come flooding back, if you are starting on siege i will help you where i can, can sort you some equipment and stuff, its a different game on siege, and if you played a long time ago this will be the closest to how you remember the game

If your interested in Siege please do read the FAQ there are a lot of differences between how the Siege Perilous Server and other "Production" Servers work. Thieves have an easier time on Siege though due to not having to worry about Passive Reveal. Without Passive Reveal you can stealth right up on a person, on Production Shards most Thieves use Ninjitsu's Shadow Jump ability to overcome this.

If you want to go Production Shard Thief, just be warned it's a bit harder to find things to steal that are actually worth stealing (I'm not a Pots and Bandies type person myself) thanks to insurance which blocks an item from being stolen or looted when you die.

thanks guys i rolled on siege called my new theif Deserved started with nijitsu/snooping/stealing cause hiding is easy from what i remember lol

having a little trouble with uo auto map dl atm wich kinda sucks

Snooping is the easy one, hiding, while no more difficult, is slightly more time consuming
