Newbie Vendor?

Hello everyone!

So, after a few years of absence i have decided to come back to UO this week. And of course it has to be SP (even thou it looks pretty destered?).

I have been wandering around alot and visited some player vendors. But i failed to find a vendor that is catering to new chars on SP? Stuff like Runebooks, filled with most common training locations, cheap crafted weapons and armorsets and so on.

Is there any vendor out there selling such stuff?

I was in your shoes a few months ago; a returning player after a hiatus of several years.

Guild and Community
There is a guild for new players - NEW. Not sure how active they are now, but i've seen some NEW players running around lately, which is a good sign. There are also other guilds, which you may be interested in, depending on your play style.

People generally lurk and hang out in General chat here; you may not see them, but they are watching. The community here is a lot stronger and tightly knitted than other shards, so although there aren't as much people here as compared to, say, Atlantic, you will get to know more people and perhaps, forge stronger ties even.

Bank sitting is dangerous as you may get killed or pickpocketed, so people are usually not visible if they can help it.


Vendors and stuff
Most vendors are in Zento and in New Mag. Luna is a ghost town as it is a very dangerous area on Siege.
You can find cheap equipment on vendors in New Mag and Zento.
Let me know if you need any weapons. I can pass some to you, but they won't be fantastic state of the art weapons where you can kill a dragon with a hit.


Travelling
There is a rune library north of Zento gate, which you will find very useful.

Thanks alot for the good tips. Glad to hear the shard isnt "dead". Then ill stay here and work my skills up.

As for your offer regarding weapons, i am fine on that front, well, good enough to train my swordmanship skill at least

Only thing i really need right now would be a runebook filled with some usefull rune (brit bank, despite entrance, shame entrance and maybe a few more good hotspots which arent easy to reach via moongates).

I am looking forward to learn more about this shard!

I have a vendor on the front porch of my shop i call 5 & Dime that i toss random stuff on for 5 gold and 10 gold. keep a eye on that its kind of a house cleaning vendor but ive tossed nice armor and weapons on there before.

My shop is on new magincia north side by the beach. Also inside the bottom floor is a rune library and public dye tub set. Inside the cabinet with the book on it is free dyes to use.

If you need some start up items (eg runebook with a few marked runes etc) ask in general chat, mention you are looking to hook up with NEW. If there is a NEW emmy on they will come to your assistance, otherwise I'm sure that there will be someone on who can get you what you need.

Well do not forget many public vendor homes also have the crystal portals, most have em set for anyone to use.

And we do have the E. Umbra Siege Hub House. It's public, with Crystal portal, dungeon portal, and various house teleporter tiles most all of those are set to anyone to use. Natch cuz it IS public, ye never know, whom may be lurkin' there or when, for that matter, anywhere on Siege.

Just cross the e umbra bridge and it is look for the plot that is full of ways and means of travel either via crystal thingies or house teletiles, which are pretty clearly marked as to where each house tele-tile is taking ya.

So even if ya can't sacred journey or gate, there are still various ways to get around, just look for the hub, houses with crystal portals set to anyone, and those will help get ya some places, to and fro.

there are crystal portals that take you to towns and a corrupted crystal to go to dungeons . many of the vendor houses and other public places have them accessable. Crystal Portal - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia

siege also has many house teleporter netwroks. getting around is challenging but do-able. also i tell many new players , get 50 magery in your template somewhere . with skills imbuable on jewelery its not hard to make room in the final points and you can get around on gate scrolls.

and yes, there are people here. most of us monitor general chat, however you usually wont see us . we have learned to maintain silence if we dont want to be found. generaly tho if you put out a request for assistance (and give us time to get to a safe spot) most players will go out of their way to help those in need.

I try to keep midrange armor and weapons on my vendors (generally runic barbed pieces and runic weapons) when possible but it's so hit and miss, I'd get sold out one day and then not make a sale for 2 months that it eats up room that I really need and just burns gold like crazy. I have a bunch up now but if it's not gone soon i'll probably end up just unraveling everything I still have and move back to only taking special orders.

Thanks for all the nice and helpful answers. I decided to run another template now and retrained to mage / inscription. I can now soon craft my own runebooks and get around much better in the world.

I am way to lazy to use a "tricky" teleporter system

Also thanks to Magnolia for your PM, i cant answer directly since i need few more posts on this board before i am allowed to write PMs.
