New Threshhold met with new loot?

So I'm putting together a glass cannon character and just realized that I could potentially hit 210 stamina with my pieces w/o pots. Now that combined 55 ssi (25 on weap, 10 on each jewelry, and 10 on shield) would give me 1.25 swing speed on a soul glaive. Was this ever possible before the new loot/reforging era?

It's been pretty hard and expensive to get close to 200 stamina before imbuing and now reforging.

Before imbuing and the combo of it and the Forged Artifact it was very uncommon to get SSI over 30%. You could get 35% with the ring and 40% on bows with enhancing but it was costly to do it.

Definitely not difficult now. Been using gold runic hammers to reforge chainmail pieces (Will be leaching mana from weapon so med doesn't matter). On reforging I do not use any of the reforging options however I go all the way to sublime. This gives me 1-2 good mods. I wait till I get 4 dex plus one other desirable mod (choosing mystic/sorcery and haste/animated). Then I imbue 7 stamina increase (8 diamond 8 enchanted essence) and then whatever I can fit on it to help my build. By going this way I get:

Head: 11 stam increase
Neck: 11 stam increase
Chest: 11 stam increase
Arms: 11 stam increase
Gloves: 11 stam increase
Legs: 11 stam increase
Shield (from shame loot): 7 stam increase
Jewel 1: 7 stam increase
Jewel 2: 7 stam increase

Swing speed: 20 from Jewels (shame loot)
10 on shield
25 on glaive

That's 55 SSI

Imbuing some shame loot can actually give you better stam stats then those above.

That's 87 additional stamina. Add the base of 125 and you got: 212 stamina before pots.

Using a reforged soul glaive (reforging animated/haste plus mystic/sorcery) you get 25 ssi and 90+ mana leech which makes lower mana cost irrelevant.

Fit damage increase on gems and talisman and you could end up with a pretty heavy hitting toon at really not much cost at all.

60 SSI is the cap is it not?

so why not get that cape and go to max?

i know i run a heavy bow all the time with 50 SSI and a ecu and cape with 5SSI each to get me to the 60 SSI.

then i run 150 dex.

i wouldnt mind tweaking my suit to be able to hit 210.

that would make the old bow purrrrrr like a kitten i would think.

that would be what..... 8 tick / swing speed 2 on a weapon speed of 5?

Yeah, but you are crippling your hit chance by carrying a shield as a thrower. Even with Parry, you will not compensate enough for the HCI decrease against the hardest foes. Now if you could hit 55 SSI without a shield using the following then you'd be in business:

- 30 Soul Glaive
- 10 Ring
- 10 Bracelet
- 5 Warden's Armor of Augmentation (or altered Rangers)

At first I thought you could use the Berserker's Breastplate, but that won't work if you need 11 stamina on the chest piece. So this could work, but man it is tough to get those jewels. I still wouldn't do this unless I can fit at least 40 HCI on the suit. If you miss you defeat the purpose of hitting 1.25s throw speed.

55 SSI and 210+ Stamina is what it takes to get to 1.25s swings/throws with a 4s base speed weapon. 60 SSI gets you no additional advantage.

Good point on the shield usage. I'm new to throwing so I was going based on melee weapons. Can you overkill on HCI to negate the shield penalty? Though it doesn't seem like it would be that big a deal finding ssi somewhere else. And also 55 ssi and 60 ssi at 210 stamina is the same results so it would be just a waste as stated above.

What is a "glass cannon" character ?

I assume it is a Thrower from mentioning the soul glaive but what are the details of the template ? And what the pros and cons of such a character ?

Thanks.

A toon that dishes out as much damage possible while my pet tanks. Good for low spawn areas. My current build is:

Taming: 111
Lore: 111
vet: 100
Swords: 120
Bushido: 120 (damage increase + Luck from perfection)
tactics: 100
Chiv: 100

I use a taming jewel set to send drag in on critter then switch to battle jewels after GD has engaged.

Toon has no defensive skills (mid 60's resists so I can run and use invis pot)

Right now I swing a longsword at 1.25 with 94% mana leech which allows me to spam AI. I'm getting about 150 per strike. BTW any advice to move that number higher would be appreciated!

Advantages of build:

Can use brittle armor with insane mods from new loot
Switch out to luck suit + Perfection + Statue= 3200+ luck
laid back fighting style

Disadvantages:

High spawn areas are a no go (no champ spawns)
Target swapping Critters can be a pain

I mainly use for swoops, miasmas, and eternal gazers.

150 at 1.25 is still kinda weak in pvm, since you're tanking alongside the pet, consider a rune beetle instead of a GD, in 9/10 cases he'll do far more damage and the effect of lowering the enemy reisists will amplify your damage considerably as well, you can also lower some skills, taming and lore only need to be 104.7 unless you're going to be using fire steeds to tank (i dont recommend it), vet you could potentially drop to 80, so you could 120 your tactics and get a little extra chiv to get a little bit damage boost out of it. Another option would be to use a cu, who vets himself, and drop vet, picking up anatomy instead for the extra damage bonus

you mentioned throwing before yet you say you are using a longsword? if you are using a longsword, switching to a 2 handed weapon would increase damage output. if you can reach 1.25 with a 4.0 weapon, that's some heavy damage.

Actually the 150 was just from me not counting the damage done by the GD. Counting the GD I'm in the 200-250 range. Rune beetle works well with critters that don't hit quite as hard, however they die pretty quick against eternal gazers which is my favorite farming spot.

Yeapers that is my train of thought exactly. Although I need a weapon that has armor ignore to spam. Longsword was the heaviest hitter for swords that I could find that had that as a special. That's why I'm thinking of switching to throwing with the soul glaive.

Actually sorting through some of my shame loot i'm noticing a lot of pieces with 14-15 stamina increase. So 210 should be easy to get with those. The reforging method should work with a sampire build since you have more durability with the armor

Longsword base damage is 15-16, bladed staff is 14-16 but it's 2handed and swings .5 faster :)

Looks like a lot of work and possible sacrifice of other stats for the amount of damage. My sampire with a hatchet and lumberjacking can hit 160s to 222 damage per hit. Since the hatchet is fast not as much stam or swing speed is needed.

Right now with the suit I have I'm hitting 158/1.25 plus the damage that my GD is producing. The reason I started playing with this template was actually for the luck. I use high end shame gear with any/all negatives for the initial damage output and then near the time of death I swap to my luck gear which gives me 1485 luck from the gear + 1000 from perfection. Then I throw in the luck from my luck statue and that's 3200+ luck. Gives a heck of a boost on the loot from eternal gazers which translates to more relic frags at the very least and at best I sometimes end up with a nice piece or two without negative mods.
Right now I'm just trying to maximize my damage output within the build to take down the gazers faster. It takes me about 45-60 seconds to take them down now. I was hoping to get that down to around 30ish.

Say, those kind of stats might make war hammer an actually usable option. I miss using war hammers.
