My 'basic' tamer-template looks like:
120 tame, lore, vet, 110 magery, medi
A basic fisher-template looks like:
100 fishing, 'any mix of combatant skills'
Those too combined would use 680 skillpoints. To admit training a tamer (especially taming) really needs a lot of time. For starting fishing the lower pets would be enough. A somewhat perfect match would be to seriously start fishing after you can savely hold bake-kitsunes. Two of them (even untrained) und you wont have to fear any serpents that are out on the seas.
For starting: scrolls for 110 tame/vet/lore would be enough for a long while. Somewhat perfect would be, if you can get ahold of an advanced char token. By chosing the tamer template, you would have enough taming and lore to control bakes. If not you will have to do the hard way fo starting a tamer from the scratch.
I always suggest 110 magery on a tamer, course it means never failing on a gate. (And gating for a tamer means beeing able to transport unbonded pets. But thats me ... I like the idea of beeing able to donate animals to the zoo. Especially during training taming.)
One of the really interesting templates, that I ve seen for a fishing-tamer was:
110 tame/vet/lore, 100 fishing, 100 cartho/lockpick, rest (70-90 depending on skill cap) splitted between chiv and medi. (This was before the greater dragons, when you were able to have fully control for each available pet with 110 tame/lore.)
