New Player Please Need Some Tips

https://stratics.com/community/forums/uhall.35/Hello Everyone,

I was playing UO since 15 years. However I was playing in some local servers using sphere coding system 56b or 56c.

The Ultima Online that you play in this official platform is totally different to me. Gameplay Mechanism is too complicated for an old school player like me. Never Played Age of Shadows or other verisons.

So, can you please at least help me and guide me what kind of skills do I need to become a decent warrior. I want to use archery and Fenc maybe. What kind of skills do I need ? and is there any skill cap like in sphere. For example usually you cannot have more than 700 skill points in most servers.

As you see I have no idea what Bushido is or ninja is. Its like a totally new game for me and admit that bit complicated for me.

So please help me and tell me how can I improve those skills too ? Do you have dummies to hit ? or PVE is only way to gain skills ?

Thank you...

P.S. If someone want to really help me please PM me and you can explain me a little bit on skype ?

I have no idea what you are talking about regarding the other servers and the sphere coding system, but I would start by looking at a few other threads in this particular forum. I have started two, personally, that people have gone into some decent detail to explain how to get a foothold in the game. Really short version, start with a warrior, do the New Haven quests for some decent beginner items, and then go from there to the areas people mention (too lazy to link, but my two threads were something like Starting from Scratch and New Player Returning Again). Be sure to sit on as much money as you can. I think the first thing you want to try to aim for is a small house. That way you can have a base of operations. The next thing you want to try to do is assemble/buy a 100% LRC suit. Once you have that, you can start a mage (without having to spend gold on regs, which is outrageous for a new player), which I think will yield better returns overall that your warrior. After that, the options are plentiful, and you really have to decide for yourself what you want to do.
A few points off the top of my head for when you are starting--first, make sure to select New Haven as your starting city. I would suggest accepting all the New Haven new player quests, even for skills you might not plan on using. Some of the rewards for finishing those quests are quite useful (I think the magery quest will reward you with an undead slayer spellbook--not a bad idea to start with 49 magery and do that, even if you are a warrior, for no other reason than because a new player can find a crapton of uses for an undead slayer spellbook). Always work on your skills in the ruins east of New Haven, you will get a big boost to skill gain while there. Once you have finished the quests you plan to do, remember to keep gold (or checks) in your bank, and insure your valuable equipment. I would ask around either New Haven or Britain for help when you are ready to place a house, likely someone will help you locate a spot (and maybe mark a couple of runes for you, if you aren't yet able).
Obviously, your choice of shard is important as well. Personally, I will suggest Lake Superior, because that is my shard. Not overly populated, but you can find a few people playing at all time. Some of the shards, I can run around for a lifetime and never find anyone. If you want the busiest shard, Atlantic is your choice. Check the forum threads here for your shard, you might be surprised how many people are lurking and willing to step forward and help a new player. We definitely all the new blood we can get.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your answer. I already noticed your threats for new players and thank you for support.

I already started in Atlantis (no idea I have made a good choice). Maybe later on I can transfer my char to a different server. As you said I am fully surprised when people are raging to help me. They gave me items (Including LRC set), money etc. So I didn't feel as I was a new player. It felt like I was playing for a long time in that shard.

Briefly, I will follow your guide for a while and as you said I will decide what to do next. Hopefully I can find a guild and meet with other people.

I love Ultima Online and I guess will be around for a long time :)

Can you also advise me little bit on stat distribution for a warrior ?

P.s. Sphere is a coding system that you need to know to open a shard for your self if you want a classical UO (like in 1990s).

Thanks...

Greetings, may i ask you firstly which shard you choose to play? and secondary is opening a warrior will seems bit easy but in further, we have dangerous mobs for frontiers on Original Uo. There is some template in our forum some player made, you should look at them. Sadly there is no dummies or something like that. Skill cap is 720 in original but you can go on if you make a right template. www.uoguide.com is where you check skill gains. Welcome =)
