New Player Help?

Hey guys and gals!

A friend of mine told me about this game, and now is never online to show me how to play or what the point is.

I got ICQ, bought the game, started an account, he told me to make a tamer that they are best for monster hunting, and I havent been able to contact him since.

I like alot of the things he told me about the game and would like to continue playing but I have literally no clue what im doing or where I'm supposed to go, what I'm supposed to do. Etc...

So any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Savannah

Greetings and welcome to Sosaria. Not sure how much you have explored the game as of yet, but best place to start now a days is New Haven. There are plenty of guilds there, many individuals as well, that are happy to show you the ropes and get you pointed in the right direction.

Some might disagree with me, but I think a Tamer would be a tough character to start the game with. For your first character, I would recommend a Paladin/Swordsman. It's a simple template to play and right now you need to learn how things work in-game.

Even with basic armor and weapons, this template will allow you to build skills fighting monsters let you put some gold in the bank.

The new player quests in New Haven will allow you to quickly train your Paladin up to 50skill level in all the necessary skills. Here's a tip: First buy 40 skill from the NPC you plan to train from, then take the skill training quest and get the last 10 points under the accelrated skillgain in Old Haven. You will have to take several quests to build your fighting skills:
Swordsmanship
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Chivalry
Parry
You may also want to add Resisting Spells. I wouldn't worry about Focus as that will gain quickly all by itself.

After you complete the new player quests, there are some Ettin past the moongate in New Haven you can train on. Work on them for a while and get enough gold to insure your armor and build your skills some more.

Ask around New Haven to see if one of the mages would make you a runebook with some basic dungeon runes where you could build more skills.

Also, folks in New Haven might even be generous enough to make you some new armor or sometimes they will just drop extra loot on the ground for the new players to grab.

Hope this helps you get started.
