I couldn't wait for the changes to pet AI. Now it seems to me I eat far more spam than I did before. Talking to people in game, it seems I am not alone.
So what is the secret? How do you get your pets to listen now???

I'm not having any problems with mine - the changes were a big improvement to me, I'm "spamming" less and having far less 'disobedience' problems

if you have your pets guarding you, you'll be spamming at least as much as you did before. The trick is to make your pets stop and then follow you, so they aren't in auto-defend mode

When travelling through areas where I don't want to stop and fight I use a 2 line macro: all stop, all follow me. When I do want to fight I use 'all guard me, all follow me'. I'm having no problems.

I did as you allready suggested in another thread Petra, and while it sometimes works, it still doesn't work all the time.
Just yesterday, my Wyrm died while I was trying to get it out of a spot where a wisp and an angel were pounding on him and one wisp was on me, so I had to retreat. I have the all stop all follow me macro set up and was spamming it like wild. My pet just like old times, turned to me, only to turn back to fighting the next second.
So as said before, the changes do not work. At least not all the time.

For the record: I'm at 115/115 taming/lore when hunting with my pets and my wyrm is wonderfully happy all the time. Never disobeys me, just likes to turn around ad start fighting again as if it was guarding even if I tell it to stop and follow.
Now, If I say stop, follow adn that, some time after i am attacked, that yes, my pets will just watch me die happily

So no, the new "A.I" is quite "A" but not very "I"

I haven't had this problem yet. As long as my commands go through, my pet stops fighting when I issue a follow command. I rarely use the guard command especially if I'm using a pet that doesn't always obey my commands. I prefer being able to have precise control over my pets to having my pets think for themselves.

I LOVE the new pet AI.....my main house is in fel, and it's not enclosed, though it is private...so nothing can get in, usually...I have had a random harpy fly in....but my crafters beetle was ALWAYS running outside after the brigands that spawn...and they spawn ALOT right outside my house. No matter if I told it to STOP and STAY and FOLLOW ME a hundred times, the minute those brigands spawned, out it would go and I'd have to go runnin after it.

NOW he STAYS when I tell him to stay no matter how many brigands are outside.

Same with my Cu Sidhe I noticed if I tell him to attack one thing, and something else attacks him, he will continue with the one thing I TOLD him to attack, once that target is dead he returns to me completely ignoring whatever it is biting him on the tail untiil I tell him to attack. I haven't had any issues at all with the new AI though I haven't had my super dragon out yet.

The only issue I have had is with giving commands to my lesser hiryu. I have to use the context menu - it ignores typed commands. But the other pets seem to respond properly with typed text commands.

Like Larisa, I also really like that my pets *stay put* or *keep following* when I tell them now. My devoted yet previously pea brained pack animals are much easier to keep alive. My main resource chest is on the porch of my house, and every time I would open the door to go get something, a reaper or gargoyle or something would spawn and out the door my llama brained llama would be like a shot, no matter how much "all stop all follow me" spam I created. Then I'd have a ghost llama trailing me uselessly around the house.

LOL...I always thought the pack animals had delusions of being rune beetles or something. A while back I named my pack horse "Stupid" and my pack llama "Im with Stupid" on Test Center because they made me so frustrated, rushing out constantly after the brigands that spawned in the spot where I was working on my test plot. I'd take a wall down to try something, and it was like "quick, there is an opening, now is our chance to die!" I had to conjure a fire ellie to wipe everything out before customizing because I knew as soon as I opened the menu they'd get booted outside and be off after something a screen away.
