Hi

Just a quick question but does anyone know how many loyalty points to the ophidians you have to get to be able to do the new Blackrock Stew recipe quest from the ophidian cook ?

Many Thanks

Stig

More than I have.

My char has 2427 loyalty points, I haven't gotten involved in the event very much. The message I got was:
I need assistance from a loyal adventurer. I am close to a breakthrough that will undermine the Bane Chosen
My work mussst not fall into the handsss of the bane chosssen you mussst prove yourssself further before I can trussst you.

I got the quest with under 7,000. So we know it's not 7,500, or for once a bug actually helped me instead of harmed me.

I will suggest it's however many points you need to get to the ally level.

I don't feel like getting the rotworm stew recipe just yet, though. I think I shall have an alt do it later.

it's a bit more than 5k, I have 5026 and got the quest...
too easy, just gather the terathan avenger arms (all avengers has 1), rotworm stew and 5 pieces of blackrock (last tokuno event gave enough :p)
quest over, you got the recipe.
The quest can be done only 1 time per character

blackrock stew (100 cooking -> 70% success chance) requires: 1 bloodworm stew + 1 small piece of blackrock

ok thanks all, looks like i have to double my points total. Do the bane at magincia give more than a point each, can see this being a long haul lol

As for Stig, not sure of the Rock n Roll Reference, Some people may suggest its a reference to how I drive, but its actually Stig of the Dump, the name of a childrens book. :)

Magincia Bane give 3 points to ophidians and meer. so cuts my work a bit only a thousand bane to die now :)

i'm guessin u need 5001 points then, to get quest. well at least there now is a use for the small pieces of blackrock that you get from mining.
1 rotworm stew + 1 smallpeice of blackrock to make blackrock stew.

The required number of points for the quest is between 5000 and 5002; coincidentally I was at 4930-ish before this patch, so I just went and killed a single Bane until I was offered the quest at 5002 (but not at 4999).

Man the bane die too fast :p respawn takes forever. Wonder how long the bane will stick around, takes forever to get kills due to respawn haha.

You talking about getting them at the Keep? I like it there, always a profit to be made, lol

I'm friended to the Ophids, but evidently Not to the group spawning at the entrance to the Keep, or wasn't last week, unless they changed it. Have to fight your way in, killing your snake friends?

The thing which I find most absurd, is that the reward for the quest is a crafter's recipe, to produce blackrock stew......

And quite a crafter is required if 100.0 skill in cooking only gets 70% success chance.

So, it is real crafters' stuff......

YET, it requires very HIGH loyalty to be offered the Quest to earn the recipe which only an experienced fighter can build up.

And since the Quest (and the recipe) is given only to the character who has the loyalty, this means that the recipe will stick to that fighter character NOT to a crafter character...

Sure, we have Soultones to swap skills as t-shirts but please, give me a break, supposedly Ultima Online was a roleplaying game and we get a crafter's receipe that requires experienced fighting ?

I cannot agree with this type of design, sorry.

Yeah, right.............

LOYALTY?
just checked, your 'loyalty' means 'nothing' to the ophids at the keep. And for those not familiar, there's a long choke point on the north side you go thru before you can get to the terathans, w/ ophids in the trail And up on a ledge beside it, all waiting to loot your corpse. One way in, unless you have a rune from days long past, before the war.

From experience:
The entire group respawns in place(i think every 20-30mins?) and they Love to Loot! If you're looted just before they respawn, chances are real good that the one that looted you will go poof, along w/ the loot, permanently.

2nd choice - keep starting the champ spawn that spawns them, should only take a few times

I'm about done w/ this mess 'till the next stage.

hhmm you do know that the reward is a recipe scroll(same as the elven recipes), you have to double click to use. Can be given to any char to use, so not sure exactly what you mean by this:

And since the Quest (and the recipe) is given only to the character who has the loyalty, this means that the recipe will stick to that fighter character NOT to a crafter character

For crying out loud Popps, will you EVER actually try anything in game first before shooting your mouth off based on a poor reading of patch notes? When has a recipe, that is a scroll that needs to be eaten by a character, EVER been character bound? Or even any item in game limited so, except personally blessed ones?

And to prove it, I have just gone and completed that quest on my Ophidian loved character, and then simply handed the recipe scroll over to my cook who has no reputation at all... he promptly ate it, and then made Blackrock Stew, which my Bane Dragon on a different character then ate in turn. So everyone's well fed and happy, including you, because you seem to have got a foot stuck in your mouth.

As an aside though... the new Ophidian quest stew is a different colour to the Bane version, it's a dark brown compared to the Bane's black, but does the same thing. This means that now the recruiter has gone from Ilshenar, the black bane stew no longer spawns (as far as I know).

When I was doing the bane quest to get power crystals the stews were a different shade than the ones i got from the original bane quest but would change colour when stored in the bank to the original colour.

There are terathons in the spider cave in Ilsh. Do they not drop the item needed?
UO Stratics - Grand Sosarian Atlas - Spider Cave
I think it's Only the Terathan Avengers - they aren't at the cave. That's why the Ophid spawn at the Keep 'should have been' given a list of the people who have loyality to them. I'd like to hear an explanation why they don't know, otherwise I throw it all in the pile w/ the Rest of content that just doesn't work right, which is still quite large.

Just a question related to the blackrock stew recipe :
I've started on Bane's side during the war Bane/Ophidian but I didn't reach enough points to have access to the recipe. Is there Ophidians left that I can fight to gain loyalty, or am i forced to kill Meers? Really it's not cool, Meer have negative karma. :(

The recipe referenced in this thread, you gain by killing Bane Chosen on behalf of the Ophidians/Meer/Queen Dawn.

Killing Meer won't get you points with the Ophidians. And what the Bane Chosen gave you wasn't a recipe for stew, but the stew itself. (Here's an analogy: The Bane gave you fish; the Ophidians teach you to fish.)

So to get the Ophidians' recipe you will need to kill Bane Chosen in the invaded towns by the truckload. (Can supplement with the Bane Chosen spawn at the Spirituality Shrine in Ilshenar, but they are only 3 points each.)

Or you could buy the recipe off someone.

In summary:

* Need 5,001 points of Ophidian loyalty (Ally status) before you take quest
* Quest giver is in T2A desert, in Ophidian Camp where first Bane / Ophidian event was (Cook npc)
* Quest requires: 5 pieces of small blackrock, 1 rotworm stew (obtain quest from Stygian Abyss; Jaacar - "Bad Company" -- req. 0 cooking skill to make, 20% chance w/o tally -- kill rotworms, carve for meat, 1 meat req per bowl), and 1 terathan avenger arm (Ter Keep is perfect, just invis three or four times to get through ophidians).
* Quest gives recipe item which you can trade to anyone, irregardless of loyalty -- "Blackrock Stew," 70% craft at GM cook w/o tally (1 piece of blackrock plus 1 bowl of rotworm stew).

You don't get it. This guy likes to complain just for the sake of complaining. His brain is mostly turned off when posting here.
Oh, I get it, I've berated him before for beating his head into a wall asking inane questions without bothering to do any research or read publish notes. :twak:
