New Maginica… What about the NPC Town Criers?

I know it's extremely hard to get a basic answer to questions here… but I have to ask.

Face it, Stratics is visited by a fraction of the total UO players. Not many check the news, events, or common chatter even on their own shard.

Personally, I check uo.com more often for game news then any place else.

I may be a vet, but I learned a long time ago to keep well informed… as much as I can, because people ask me questions all the time. People who can't even be bothered to check the basics on uo.com.

The question was raised by a friend to what the actual percentage of players KNOW about New Maginica and this new publish. For 6 years, even when the public moongate was open… it was a hostile and wasted area of the game. Inside 6 years, most of the players running around NOW have never saw the city before it was destroyed.

At the Luna bank, on Atlantic… constantly and far too much spam reminds people to check the official EM site for events… but what about this BIG news about Maginica?

If you haven't noticed… many of the standard Town Criers are missing from around the cities… and not a single one is spamming the city is being rebuilt right now!

Has anyone considered getting the NPC Town Criers breaking this very worth-wild news?

Developers accidentally deleted most of them back around Halloween of last year, got snotty when called on it, never got around to replacing them. I wonder how long that dude selling Hellhound Treats that don't work will sit there, while I'm thinking of it.

Honestly the news on the patcher when you first open UO should be updated more often.. Because technically you should read that every time you log into UO.. i think that would help a little bit more.. but i could be wrong.

Honestly... 2 issues with that patch window:

1... You can easily load the game without the patch.

2... People dont look at the news right in front of their faces at the patch window because if there is no patch... they want to get in the game as fast as they can.

I disagree with this, if it was updated more often then I could see checking it.. AND if it was updated more regularly then you should know to check it and if you didn't it would be your own fault for not looking.... I think that would be the best way to put stuff out. Every time I see a town crier I don't yell NEWS at it... even when they were working. But if I knew the thing that I use EVERY time I log in had updated info I would take the two seconds to read it.

For kicks... right after my last post on this thread, I found one of the rare Town Criers and said "News"... responce was "I have no news at this time."

I'm sure its the same for the News Rat reward from last clean up. I used to have one locked down at my main mall, but it was giving outdated news for too long.

I tried getting our shard EM to have his news spammer to help the issue and my post was moved so he cant respond. Go fig. hehe

those hell hound treats work just fine and i hope he never leaves.
