New house (apologies in advance)

I know this information is somewhere, but I can't find definitive advice.
I currently own a small house.
I've found larger empty plot in which to build a bigger one.
If I use the house placement tool, and place my house, all of my belongings will be placed in a moving crate _at_the_new_location_ correct?

I've read where I have to empty everything out of my current house - but I believe that's if I resize on my current plot....

If I move to a completely new location, can I safely place a house and keep all my (meager) belongings (add-ons, chests, soulstones, forge, etc??).

The old house will stay as it currently is (including all items in it) and become condemned. You will have about 1 week to empty it out and drop it to the ground or else it will fall and all your items will be freely lootable.

step one: place your new home

step two: Take everything from old house put in new house (beetles are great for this if you can't gate packys or theres heavy spawn)

step three: Demolish old house get money back.

step four: Enjoy new home.

Moving crate is really a misnomer. It's more of a storage crate. It's where items go when you build a wall over existing deco, or place something on the steps and then go into customize mode. It used to have more purpose, since whenever you would go into custom mode *everything* would go into the crate. That was a huge pain for deciding to just change one or two things then having to totally redecorate, so they changed it to how it is now.
