OK I know we have an auto fluctuating economy to account for supply and demand, BUT I just went to start building on a new lot that I've already sunk over 30k in just to buy the lot and upgrade to size 8, and low and behold all the prices are jacked when you go to buy fencing, half walls, dividers, colums/archways and more. The cheapest column you can buy is 591 bucks EACH! The most expensive column is now 5,625 bucks EACH! No that's not a typo thats the actual cost I'm looking at right now. half walls covered in snow are 627 each, stone half walls are 691. At this rate it will take a year just to build a home?? Is this happening to anyone else?

I belive it's unfortunate feautre,

You can't say no, but Columns are one of the most used items, it appears they have also shared the flactuate feature, I belive the feature should be disabled in Build Mode unless Devs are planning to start ability to "sell" Build Mode in Stores.

CC posts/arches don't serve the same purpose as build mode posts/arches as they can't hold up upper level. They are purely decorative.

As for building a fence with CC objects... again decorative but probably effective as a fence. Still costly.

If they expect us, as players, to make everything ingame with CC then they had better make everything functionable.

I don't see this happening for a very very long time, myself.

SO in the meantime we suffer the very very high building costs or not build. I choose to not build.

I would love to hear the explanation for this from whoever came up with the idea.

For objects that can be traded, I understand the desire to create markets for them. To avoid making used and unused objects worthless, you limit the number and encourage people to buy and sell them rather than creating new ones. With all the objects merged from the different cities, there should be unused ones, and those should be reused before new ones are created.

Compare the situation to, say, columns. If I have a bunch of them, that keeps the price up for other people, encouraging them not to use them. But my columns are still worth nothing. Even if I don't want them any more, I can't sell them to someone else. They would like me to destroy them because if enough are destroyed, the build mode price will go down, but that is not a market. I have no incentive to help them. Is the goal to make it rare to see fences and columns on new lots? That is what the current price model is causing.

Is there some other rationale for why a fence should be 100 times more expensive than the same length of wall?

It shouldn't matter how many colums someone else has on thier lot. All build mode items should have a set price not an adjustable price, period lol. If this is how it is intended then people are just going to get frustrated with the price of building a home before they ever get one built. At this rate what is the price going to be when 50 more lots are built on? 100? 500? I bet it wont take long for colums and walls and fencing to hit 50k per section. That's not fair to the ones who want to build a home later on down the road.

What it will do is deter people from building at all, only the exploiters who find ways of scamming money out of the system will be able to afford to build. If we want to attract new players and get more people subscribing we have to give them something to look forward too other than a second job, we have enough of those in real life.

In a way it makes sense because you have those doing CC to columns as well. As the economic devs say, "Supply and Demand".

You have to wonder how new sims will ever get their houses. Building is one of the best actions we can do in EAland. I have to ask, why would new players stick around? After April they will start with only 10 locks. I am not sure what the blog said but I think we will get new locks ever 21 days. Just think new sims will have to wait 10 months before they can max lock a skill. So new sims they will not be able to buy a lot, enlarge a lot, build a house, decorate a house, buy items to go in the house unless they hit up the ATM for a very long time. So they will be major poor and homeless unless they are rich in real life and can pop to the ATM all the time. For some reason I really don't think too many people will be making jam at 10ebucks (or whatever u call them) a tray for very long. And don't say oh they can keep skilling. Anyone try to keep skills at level 20 without locks? They will spend more time skilling then making ebucks. This game is going somewhere, I just wish we knew where. Cause I sure don't see it going anywhere fun for new players.

The decay on only one maxed skill, even if you can only lock half of it, won't be that bad, actually. Most players now that have 20 locks have another skill that is at max, and the decay rate isn't that bad, and some even keep 2 skills besides the one they have locked at 20.99 at 15 or higher. Now, at 3 near maxed skills the decay starts getting out of hand, but just with 1 or 2 maxed, it isn't bad at all IMO.

Is there any chance of getting a Dev opinion or answer on this? with the prices of some of these build mode items it is going to cost well over 100,000 bucks just to build the lot, thats not counting furnishing it at 25k to 85k per skill item because of the jacked prices. I do have a job already and I dont want to have to work a second job when I get home just to be able to build in this game. I can usually make around 1 to 1.5k a night so thats over 3 months of doing nothing but making money in this game just to finish building my lot. Then another 2 years to furnish it???

I'll quit first along with many many other people if this is how it is intended.
