Maybe I am just having a bad day in UO.

I main a t-mapper, so I was pretty excited for this event. Logged in today, started doing maps, quickly the server spawned a manifestation. That was great! Got the coords and went to it... Didn't get a drop. Rinse and repeat 20 times throughout the day, no drop.

My mapper cannot do enough damage to participate in this event, even though I am the one making the event progress. Sure, I get some useless deco, but that isn't what anyone wants. Additionally, all the new deco stuff I place can't even be bought because VS has been super sketchy all day, likely due to all the extra people playing.

I decide to throw in the towel and go back to playing NL, where I have been hanging out for a bit. I had switched between NL and my main... and somehow when I logged back in - I was dead. And my corpse was gone.

Went trying to play NL... and the population there was relatively low in comparison to the weeks prior - likely due to the fact everyone was back on their main servers doing this event - that I don't even get to participate in. We were unable to muster enough people to do a couple of the bosses - during PEAK playtime.

Went back to ATL to try and use different chars to get drops, and literally none of mine could. Not my archer, not my tamer, not my sampire. Meanwhile, everyone else is just raining drops and having a blast.

Last but not least, I went to go present my grievances on the UO forums... And of course I could not, since those forums never work.

Anyhow, it's days like today - which are supposed to be the BIG fun of the year, that make me question why I am actually even still playing this.

I put cart and remove trap on my spellweaving, max sdi, necro mage. I do level 1-3 maps(120 mage unlock spell to open). 1050 damage word of death gets me a drop on Atl bout 75-80% of the time.

There is a 5 minute time period between when the Manifestation of Evil is summoned and when he spawns. Have you tried changing characters and going on someone with higher damage output?

Event summary: "You spend one hour cooking, then I come eat FREE lunch and leave without saying thank you".

Event boss gets killed in under one minutes by 20 toons. Looting rights are for pets and warriors here. A lot of people also switch from shard to shard, waiting at Luna for free rides.

This event is poorly considered as if coming from someone who doesn't understand this game's history. Players dont bother posting any feedback on UO forums anymore, coz we know the dev guy already made up his mind. We see this scenario far too many times from past years.

Lets see if this dev guy would bother changing anything. Event is dead on arrival Day1.

My sympathy goes out to the pure mappers. They should get guaranteed rare drops but the coding work is too difficult for the dev guy.

On Japan shards the local players are already annoyed. Atlantic is even worse.

Baja and/or Origin me see an influx of returnees. It's only the start of the 2nd day world-wide so too early to predict. I know I did very well on Baja and snagged 2 tabards and a lantern on Origin. So far on ATL I got two titles and a glaive and on Legends one title.

Thanks guys for the responses.... Honestly it was just a crappy day in UO overall for me.

Unfortunately, I play on Atlantic. There's pros and cons to it. The biggest benefit is I'm able to run a vendor shop, which is my favorite aspect of UO and always has been. The biggest con is you're always competing for resources during events like this. This is making me strongly consider relocating... Which will be insanely tough considering I'm like 10 years away from getting shard shields

Over time, this event will slow down and hopefully the prices of the drops will become more reasonable. I don't have as much faith in that though, because as time goes on, the mappers are going to slow the rate at which they pop the boss... Which will greatly throttle the supply

None of the 50ish pieces of deco I placed on my vendor have sold...

I'll give it a bit of time, but man, this first day has felt really miserable.

Changing gears, in new legacy they changed the way spawns work and force you to flag for pvp if you participate in them. That's fine if that's the way it's "supposed" to work, but it's not the way it was working for the past week, and it's not something I was expecting or wanted. As an unguilded person who prefers to play solo but join into group activities... This in effect eliminated half of the end game content. Combine that with the abysmal drop rate of the desirable items and man...

For me, my play style, and what I am seeking to get from the game, it's a bunch of L's across the board this past three days - especially considering it was something I was looking forward to.

But at least I'm not the only one who feels this way

Thanks for listening to me whining

Totally agree, was popping hoard and trove all day yesterday as I had off work and no looting rights on my main pvm/event toon. Already have enough of those chest deco drops that I am already hanging it up unless I transfer to another shard.

Not sure if this will help but use EP items and carry greater explosion potions and throw away. This should get you enough for looting rights or at least it used to.

Atlantic has swarms of scripted auto-targeting bots that will spam AI and AoEs which will demolish the Manifestation of Evil within 30 seconds while killing any Shadow Hounds that spawn. All the Banshees (female Wraith Form) you see in that screenshot a few posts above, are bots.
If you're on Atlantic, it's basically the Hunger Games. "May the odds be ever in your favor".

I spawned the Manifestation of Evil a few times on a dead shard, and tamed 8 Shadow Wolves from it.

I think we need a system that scales Manifestation of Evil's HP based on the number of nearby players. I was shocked when I couldn't get looting rights even after hitting it with WoD twice for a total of 1300 damage.

I just wish these events had a bit of a storyline attached to them. Why is this happening? Why is evil manifesting? Why treasure maps? What's going on?

It feels like ages since we've had an actual narrative going with plot points and characters that do things. An unfolding mystery to hold interest. It doesn't have to be complex. Draconi's plotlines that went in all sorts of crazy directions and then fizzled out were still great to play through and I always looked forward to see what would happen next.

I haven't played much NL so please let me know if this sort of thing happens there.

I am having the same problem on Atlantic. The overcrowding, rudeness and greed is making the gaming pretty much unplayable. I will be looking into a middle population shard as per my other post on my upcoming days off.

In general, though I don't really like that everything these days is now a limited time event. I guess the devs are capitalizing on FOMO to keep people paying their subscriptions. I mean, I guess it works in the short term, but it leaves the game starved for actual content.
I wish they would go back to dev team created story content with actual story lines, new items, dungeons etc, like the scenarios from the early 2000s which created long lasting content which is still relevant even today.

I think permanent content trumps limited time low effort stuff. Especially when so much of the world is empty and unused. What is there even to do in Eodon other than the Roof Encounter? No one even uses it. Termur doesn't have much going for it.
Would be nice to get actual permanent additions here.

The mappers absolutely should get a chance at a drop for simply doing the map. They are doing the work to spawn the boss for everyone else. There is already a system that works like that in the game too so there is really no escuse as to why not.
When a fisherman uses a white net to spawn a leviathan, they automatically get artifacts in their backpack when the boss dies even if they don't do any damage to it.
They could easily have done that also for anyone that worked a treasure chest.

Have not even tried to play Atl during this event, and I have a house there and a tamer, a t hunter, a scribe, a crafter, all highly skilled characters, GM, Elder etc.., yet the greed of the new spawning mares the other day in Luna was a big turn off for me. The smaller shards are where to go today during this event, more fun there and less greed.

Usually I like to do the quests in Eodon when I get bored. And my guild does either Zipy or the Queen every Saturday. I go when I remember in time. And not to mention that I can go to the pyramid and kill the vicious macaws for foil.

sometimes when I get bored I go to Termur and do Farmer Nash quest. While doing it I loot imbuing ingredients and items that I can turn in at the Museum of Wonder. And I milk the silver serpents for their venom, that way each one gives me a chance at 3 venom. I do this area because I don't have to worry about all the other spawn in other areas. When I train imbuing, I unravel the loot from all the creatures there and toss the stuff that don't unravel. (this is where having a beetle comes in handy)

I do have to admit that with my current commitments that I don't get to do either, as much as I would like.

This is probably the bit that irritates me the most beyond how little the devs do (if ever) about bots. The Tmapper and their party are putting in 90% of the work, it's absolute nonsense that they don't get rewarded for it so frequently because the bots swarm in and kill the Manifestation before they have a chance to deal anywhere near enough damage. This is coming from a bank sitter. If I don't get a reward, its annoying, but I'm not the one who put in the work, I'm not entitled to a reward. The people who put in the work should be rewarded, by default. Instead, it really feels like this event was made exclusively to cater to bots.

I'm on Chesapeake (mid pop) and I can tell you this isn't a sure fire option. I have a GM Alch with 50% EP on gear +Mage for summoning, and she still can't do enough most of the time. From my experience thus far, you need to do about 500 damage to score a loot bag, which isn't a lot. That should put it into perspective how much the bots are making this event Hell for everyone.

you need to do about 500 damage to score a loot bag

I have a tamer mage on a second account

Added spellweaving, since it's all the rage to cast WoD to secure your drop.

Even with a decent cu, blasting it as it drops and hitting the WoD at the end for around 1k rarely gets me a drop at this point. I end up between 1500->2000 damage. Meanwhile, I see people in my guild, in GC managing to get drops literally every time - and they complain when they don't.

Huh. I wonder exactly what the formula is for deciding who gets a bag. I know its supposedly "top damage dealers", but it sure as Hell doesn't feel like it with how all over the place it is. I've got bags from times I really feel I shouldn't of, and other times got nothing when it really feels like I should of. When the bots flood it, its a load of spellweavers and throwers in BiS gear, if they're throwing around damage numbers like that (or more consistently with a bunch of BiS'd throwers), then I don't understand how I've managed any bags at all with them around. I mostly try on my Samp, and his damage output is pitiful compared to the numbers they're doing. A Consecrated Lightning Strike crit is like a 50 for me, and thats pretty inconsistent at that, its usually like 22 or even single digits. I should not be getting bags at all if damage is all thats involved in deciding who they go to.

Though to be perfectly fair, last I played before my current stint was as a preteen back when Mondain's launched. Even 6 months in now, I'm still not exactly sure what "good dps" is outside of what my Samp can do Slayer Whirling on 8 things at once. I only recently learned of WoD and its ability to hit absurdly high damage potential, and didn't quite realize how consistent magic was for damage output because its not having to rely on Hit/Defend chance rolls until I made my throw mage. I also can't exactly gauge how my damage stacks up against Tamers (seemingly the most popular build if my shards anything to go by) as I don't have one yet. For all I know, my Samp's output on the Manifestation is really good, but its hard to tell when I hear of 1000+ nuke hits lol.

Yea I'm doing around that myself on my archer and it almost seems like it's random when I get a drop and dont. Almost like it's a lottery.

I did a map that spawned a rift last night and ran around casting EVs for a while then suddenly all these people showed up much more qualified to be killing the spawn than me.. so out of touch I am LOL I got to loot many of the acolytes and killed a couple with a kryss. I didn't know what they were and was timid but even though I am sure everyone else got better loot, it was okay for me. Not a problem. After it was over I finished the chest like usual, but I already had lots of loot for my imbuer and a good amount of gold a couple artifact level items and 2 items of the new deco stuff from the event, One from my loot and the other from the chest. I did loose the gold from the chest by leaving it on the ground right when it spawned, but next time I will leave it and take other stuff first. I will try to participate more if I can in the future LOL Not sure what I can do maybe ress or heal people or just throw an EV till it dies then another if my mana has recovered. I will see what I can do if it happens again been just playing mostly by myself for years now

I have not done any Maps yet.
Here is the crowd on LS, there were more earlier.
I have got a drop every time. The hunters make gates and the crowd goes in.
Sometimes I have got a drop but no loot rights on the Boss.
Once I got there at 50% boss health and got a drop.
I hear T mappers just need to be on the same facet as the location.
A player that did maps got a drop bag while selling jewels in Brit.
The chance to get from T Hunting is working.

@Percivalgoh Ya heal players and pets, But very few players die. My pets don't take much damage, So, I'm not sure how many heals you'll be able to toss.
