New Dragon Training =)

I thought I'd post something light since I mostly spam about PvP and my position on those debates, and talk some about new dragon training.

The first thing I try to do is get my new dragons to their top dex, 125. At the same time, I want something that will survive for awhile, and gain me up to 100 med, and near 100 in wrestling (something that is fun to kill, and not a shadow elemental :p). The best creature I've found to train on for new dragons is the Rotting Corpse. Takes a bit of healing from time to time depending on how low the new dragon's physical is.

Rotting Corpses always have 1200 hit points. Their resists are not particularly well suited to fight a new dragon, but last a long enough time. I prefer killing them in covetous, where one RC and two mummies spawn. You will also get 10th anniversary items sometimes from killing the spawn there =D. First, go to the spot alone, without your pet. If you have magery, use magic unlock spell on a jail cell door and lure the two mummies into there. Hide once they are inside, or quickly run out and close the door (a last object macro helps here). Then recall (bond that pet!) in with your dragon and start killing the RCs
. However, be careful of zombies; unlikes RCs and mummies, Zombies will open doors ;OP. If there is a loose zombie, kill it until it is locked in a cell ;P (fortunately, zombies do not have lockpicking). Note that after a duration of time, perhaps two hours, the spawn you have moved will decay and respawn back to where they should be. Maybe that's a sign you've been up too late? :p. Also note that once a pet hits 100 in a skill, they will gain stats at an accelerated rate, much like players do when we are gaining stats. What you don't want to try and do is train a new dragon on a Swoop or a Miasma from the start.

In fact, you probably want to have at least 110 wrestling before you start fighting either one of them, if you wish to continue pet training. General rule of thumb is to attack stuff within a +- 20 range when comparing wrestling skill. Once you are 100 wrestling and 125 dex, everything will go fast, so pick an appropriate hunting ground, and have fun =D.

I'm shocked! A training guide that doesn't use shadow eles! *grins*

Glad to see another trainer who does it with monsters... I mean pet training! Doing anything else with monsters is just sick...

The Sphynx are great for training our new super dragons. They spawn with 90's in wrestling and tactics, come with 1000+hp and 1k gold per. They are not that tough for our new pets. They are an almost insta spawn as well.

The Sphinx is ideal, but seldom available. I'm loving my Ladies of the Snow for resist gains and the revs add more melee so anat gains fairly steadily, too.

As well as the Coveteous rotter, I love the double rotter spawn in Doom.

Started working para cu's in the veld, then moved to succubus in blood dungeon, later moved to Balrons at chaos, and finally, Miasma. Med gm'd while on the succubus, lost a couple of mage points there, but got them back fast while at the balrons (125.2), GM'd wrestling, (102.8 and still climbing) on Miasma. Tactics Anat Eval all raising on thier own.. not worried about forcing it.

Think it's back to Balron's to GM resist.

Thats what I did as well, I started on balrons directly after it bonded.I didn`t see a problem with raising any skills like wrestle on a green dragon using balrons.Even killed the paragon bal`s whenever they appeared. Got him trained up quik and made a ton of loot in the process.

Swoop,s are great if you must pass 115. New ones have up 120 wrestling and tac is up to 130.

I really need to train my dragons. I've been busy with other things lately and kinda forgot all about training the 5 or so dragons that are sitting in my stable.

I trained my best one and half trained another good one. I've had RL stuff keeping me too busy to play sometimes and then when I do play I've been distracted by other things like spawning and character building.

I've been training up one of my super dragons in the gauntlet =) 105 in wres/tact atm, with a range up to 118 in both. fun way to train
(no arties so far though, for me
). so far, I like a Cu better when it comes to Dark Fathers, and, the 100% physical damage has me feeling as if a super dragon's damage is only useful against abyssmals...which curse the living snot out of a super dragon. but, overall, impressive tanks for group play. seems like a Cu is sometimes better for the individual not expecting help (due to extra healing).
