I thought I'd post something light since I mostly spam about PvP and my position on those debates, and talk some about new dragon training.
The first thing I try to do is get my new dragons to their top dex, 125. At the same time, I want something that will survive for awhile, and gain me up to 100 med, and near 100 in wrestling (something that is fun to kill, and not a shadow elemental ). The best creature I've found to train on for new dragons is the Rotting Corpse. Takes a bit of healing from time to time depending on how low the new dragon's physical is.
Rotting Corpses always have 1200 hit points. Their resists are not particularly well suited to fight a new dragon, but last a long enough time. I prefer killing them in covetous, where one RC and two mummies spawn. You will also get 10th anniversary items sometimes from killing the spawn there =D. First, go to the spot alone, without your pet. If you have magery, use magic unlock spell on a jail cell door and lure the two mummies into there. Hide once they are inside, or quickly run out and close the door (a last object macro helps here). Then recall (bond that pet!) in with your dragon and start killing the RCs
. However, be careful of zombies; unlikes RCs and mummies, Zombies will open doors ;OP. If there is a loose zombie, kill it until it is locked in a cell ;P (fortunately, zombies do not have lockpicking). Note that after a duration of time, perhaps two hours, the spawn you have moved will decay and respawn back to where they should be. Maybe that's a sign you've been up too late? . Also note that once a pet hits 100 in a skill, they will gain stats at an accelerated rate, much like players do when we are gaining stats. What you don't want to try and do is train a new dragon on a Swoop or a Miasma from the start.
In fact, you probably want to have at least 110 wrestling before you start fighting either one of them, if you wish to continue pet training. General rule of thumb is to attack stuff within a +- 20 range when comparing wrestling skill. Once you are 100 wrestling and 125 dex, everything will go fast, so pick an appropriate hunting ground, and have fun =D.
