Hi everyone, not sure this is the right place to post this but hey.

I have yet to try the new despise content properly since returning last week after a few months out.... my question is this....

Firstly i will be using my mage tamer... so I can vet the pets?? second thing is with a positive karma pet I am aware that I have to train him/it up to lvl 10 then conscript to start the boss fight... Is this something that can be done solo or will i need to find a group to do it... I intend to test it out but I was hoping to get a few suggestions. Was thinking of using my conscripted follower and a rune beetle... any suggestions for the boss fight?

I don´t think you can use your rune beetle down there.

so I can use my own pets as long as they are single slot pets? I had a look at the guide you posted, thanks petra, was helpful. I think I will tage my mage/mystic/weaver in that case, I can heal with spells and keep GoR up on my pet as well as throwing down a few natures furies for a lil extra token damage, then crank up the max SDI WoD's :)

As Far I know, only the controlled pet can kill anything there. Players can't do damage by themselves but i'm not sure about tamer pets. I suppose they can't either.

If I remember right I read a post from someone who used summon creature to summon giant serps and scorpions that poisoned the boss.

interesting.. I will do some testing later and give it a go.... so if a player can't damage the bos ect does that mean that I couldn't use discord?

The character can actively participate in killing spawn while training their pet, but the pet does not get kill credits from those killed by their trainer, nor do those kills assist to advance in rank. It can be helpful if you get your pet in a situation where they are likely to be overwhelmed.
Its an interesting mini-game. I have not made it to the bosses yet.

The only bard skill that works in despise is disco, you can disco the monsters your pet kills and disco the boss. It might be that level 10 pets hit as hard as level 15 pets but level 15 pets have more hit points so if your in a small group and your pet is taking damage from the boss and the wisp you will need those extra hit points. I tried using nature's fury, summon creature, summon fey, and a pack of frenzy ostriches if they were damaging the boss I was not seeing damage numbers, the fey could poison the boss. An archer/thrower/sampire can solo the wisp and you can get an artifact drops off killing the wisp(its a low drop rate). If you don't have time to level your pet before the call to arms just heal the pet that is taking damage and you can still get an artifact drop.

Ahh so healing the pets that are taking damage counts towards getting looting right. very good to know, thanks.

Petra and Frarc's guide on uo.stratics.com is very nice, its in the essay and guides section. I wasn't able to find all the information I wanted there (or on UOguide), so I did a little research myself and made note of what all the different pets do that might be helpful to you and others.

Phantom/Sileni - Bard - Discords the boss and wisp, but needs to be the main target. A must have if you wish to do the boss as quickly as possible and with less heal spam. *Thank you Winkler, Thunderz, Nyses*
Naba/Nymph - Mage - On a discorded target these can really lay the hurt on, my pick for best damage dealer at this time. These monsters can also poison the boss, often deadly poison.
Darkmane/Unicorn - Armor ignore - If you don't have a discorder this would be the top choice pet. Can get the biggest hits thanks to Armor Ignore.
Sagittari/Skeletrex - Archer - Fires arrows quite fast and for good damage, a popular tactic is to sit them on the ledge so healing is not an issue.
Hellion/Ursadane - Crushing blow - Average damage dealers, better on a discorded target, but Armor Ignore still wins out in the long run.
Echidnite/Divine guardian - Concussion blow - Average damage dealers, better on a not discorded target. Concussion Blow does 10 direct damage and halves the current mana of the target for 6 seconds.
Birling blades/Dendrite - Double strike - Unfortunately the weakest damage dealers at the moment, comes down to an issue with Double Strike itself being a weak special move. The fact that it often fails to hit being the biggest factor. You can read about this in my Weapon Special move review post. ;)
Prometheoid/Fairy - Healer - Don't have a ton of experience with these guys yet, but they will heal pets that are nearby for a significant amount of hit points.

Well I hope that helps, Mentiras and I plan on getting more information later on how the pets level up. Overall I must say I enjoy the new dungeon. Its a nice change of pace with definate potential, but some areas have room for improvement. I however will leave that to another thread and wish you luck on your adventures.

After some Animal lore uses it seems that like most monsters, the stats, resists, and skill values are fairly random, so the data pool would be quite large on all the monster variations. This leads me to the conclusion that if you have Animal lore you certainly could look for a high quality monster if you wished to, but your time would most likely be better spent on choosing what abilities the monsters offer instead.

I just tried this for the first time today before the above pet info was posted. I had a Hellion pet (15) and after about 35 mins we had killed one wisp and just barely damaged the boss. At the rate he was going down it would have taken forever. Maybe I will try a different pet or maybe solo you cannot deal enough damage to kill the boss within any period of time.

Everyone is soloing it with Mutliple accounts. I can do it in under 20 mins with 2 archers and discoing the boss

I've done it with two players and two monsters before (two darkmanes), we just barely made the timer which I believe is 30 minutes after the boss is engaged. Like Winkler says, discord makes the boss go from tedious to enjoyable (in my opinion anyway), and can be done easily with two players when provided. I would need more data to be sure, but it seemed to me that the phantoms discord ability was quite potent and would love to get a comparison to a players.
