Several people have posted on how fun starting new characters is... several have posted how much fun it's NOT.

Like the Soulstone post some of us have read...

Well as most of you know I am just now learning how to imbue and tweak templates.. I have made a Sampire Ludes... (alert the media)!

I am remembering fun I had years ago.. Combining Bushido with a Swordsman... gives all new gameplay experiences.. Now I have to meld in some Necromancy.. and hopefully I can learn to solo bigger mobs.

Now a prop for my shard... Catskills is not the largest by far... But within 72 hours of announcing the "NEW" Ludes people have donated armour, weapons.. and advice for no charge.. and I'm not poor I offered to pay em.. but was refused.
And Anna.. just gave me a charger just so she doesn't have to wait for me to catch up on foot.

I think more people should try starting from scratch.. And don't twink... make your new character go at it broke..
Course this is only aimed at veteran players who are somewhere between prod shard and Siege.
But give it a shot it's fun!

P.S. I can't help but think that Soulstoning a new character is nowhere near as fun as building a new one..

I do that alot...just make a new char from scratch....collect all the junk armor and sell it..see how good of a suit I can put together from mob drops...I think it's a blast. I'll get on my Tamer and go kill stuff...craft on the crafter, collect BOD's....get on the alchemist...blah blah....it starts to feel like work so making a new char is fun for me....I go to New Haven and take the New Player Quests...collect Reagents off the ground...reminds me of how long and hard I worked to make the chars I use every day.

I am having fun making a new mage on a shard I'd NEVER play on only because a certain someone gave me a Sorcerer's Suit

Can be the best fun ever. It's all about controlled attacks and know your limits. It can re teach the game and make a better player.

Aye, same here... It´s the true spirit of this game and it reminds you all those possibilities you usually don´t use when playing your sophisticated powerful high-end chars... And since you have the new loot system, it´s much more fun to build your own suit from loot...

Yes I've done it, start from scratch on a new shard where you're not known. It's not something I'd recommend to someone who believes the only character worth playing is a finished one but I enjoyed it a lot. I made a fisher/treasure hunter and a supporting crafter because I accidentally ended up with a boat. The char's are mothballed atm though.

Making new characters is what kept me engaged for so long. Ran out of characters to make, thought. ;_; (Yes, I've had a stealth/tamer).

Yeah, it's fun. You find yourself so desparate for gains (and gold) sometimes that you do things like kill a rat, open the corpse to get the wee bit of gold from it and also find a repond slayer lute. Goofy stuff like that.

Eh, I still pickup every last piece of gold from corpses and check all the loot no matter what heheh.

Well... I have to admit my "ultimate" Goal in-game has always been to eventually have a at least 7x GM Tamer, Crafter, Dexer, Mage and either Fisher or T-Hunter on every shard. Sometime... in my spare time... Now that I have completed my first "Goal" which was to GM or 120 every skill in the game at least once. I'm still not "finished" with my characters on GL's yet but I'm working at it... slowly but surely... I have actually begun to make a few characters here and there off GL's... but I don't really give them much time.

I started a new character a while back on Siege. I pretty much refused help. I did a mage and even fought monsters to get the scrolls to fill my first spellbook. It was rather challenging but a lot of fun.

I have made alot of chars, I am happy I can make more on other shards. The thing for me with soul stones is once you have made a char you can change out skills. Like a mage with poison alchemy and wrestling they can all be changed out useng a stone. The template stays the same all the skills but the ones I said, stats suit all stay the same. Macros just get added to so it dose not matter.

It would not do to much good to make three mages rather then one and just change it up. When you look at other skill sets though you might need to change your dex like if you were going to hold a mage wep and needed it to hit.

After you have made one of every type you might try to fit as much as you can on one shard your main shard. I have seen a few I do not have but do not like them much. So I will not make them all but you might at least make the ones you like. Also you can change up what they wear and use so you can make more changes to chars with out making a new char.. I have one that uses over 800 skill. He can also change it up to faster cast and lose the skills and still be a good char to use. It gives it more to do and changes the play style.

Making new chars is fun also I have some accounts I could make some new chars on place a few homes maybe. I have one on siege. I think I will make a new char again there soon but its funny how when you make a new char you do not care so much about dieing as you do later on when they are all done. I would rather they gave us more spaces to make new ones. I could make about four more maybe. I mean on my main shard.
