so, since this last patch i have noticed a new change with my beetle.. it no longer listens to me when i say all follow me and tends to run off fighting stuff that attacks it instead of ignoring it and just following me..

please fix this :)

Fix your commands yourself. Telling a pet to follow is not enough. You must tell it to STOP then FOLLOW.

Many people use a single macro to speak, "All guard me. All follow me." The upside of this command is that it keeps a tamer's pets on high alert. The downside is that your pets will attack anything that targets either you or it.

For my non-tamers, I have one macro for "All follow me" and one macro for "All stop." If my pet stops following me and begins attacking a nearby enemy, I command him to stop, which breaks your pet's agro with that particular enemy indefinitely (or until you command the pet to guard you or kill the mob).

no something has changed.. i tell my beetle to only follow me.. not guard me.
i also told it to stop then follow.. but every time i dismount to put boards in it, it runs away attacking something.

Does it just run off or is it actually targetting specific monsters? The reason I ask is that there has been a bug where pets would scarper off, which I think was linked to the pet previously being in attack mode and losing sight of its target.

I'd feed the pet, re-issue an all stop all follow command and then try dismounting again and see if the bug runs off on you. If it does, you could try either transferring it to another player and back again, release and retame (feed immediately if you do this) or page a GM. I'd go for the GM option if you don't want to have to bond the pet again - and if it's running off getting into fights, you kinda want it bonded :D You may need to page a few GMs to get one to show, but they should be able to fix it.

ugh the gm will probably tell me they cant replace lost or stolen items when i say my beetle runs off when i dismount it..

but you know what i think your right, it started doing it when i had an emergency recall out when it was being attacked.

I had a fresh tamed Hiryu auto-attacking Elder gazers, without being told to guard or anything like that.

With pet probs you have to prepare yourself for a few pages, but I'd suggest just paging when you log on, and just go about your business until you have one actually show up.

Sometimes if you say all stop/follow as soon as you dismount, that will stop the bug in its tracks, then it should behave from there. But it's likely the pet will repeat that running off later if it's a bugged bug. Which it does sound like :(

But yeah, GM or release/transfer it are probably the options here. Or just get another bug, maybe get a spare bug stabled and bonding just in case nothing works.

A few nights ago, I tamed a couple of lowland bouras and took two of the freshly tamed ones out to do some hunting. Used my usual "All stop / All follow me" command on them and the rascals acted as if they were stuck in cement every time I used that combination on them. They'd walk one tile, barely, and then just stop. So I changed the macro to drop the "all stop" part of it and since then they've been happily listening and obeying just a plain old "all follow me" command.

Saw this thread was still around and decided to experiment with those bouras again. Changed my macro again this morning so it's the usual two-line "All stop / All follow me" version again and used it on two brand-spanking-new bouras.

Every one of the bouras, old ones and freshly tamed ones, listen and obey just fine to "All stop / All follow me." Other pets my tamers own seem to still be listening to that combination just fine, but I really haven't used any pets but those new bouras and some wolves and bears (that only hang around in a tamed state for a few minutes) for the last week or so. I wonder if a change went in earlier this week and then got pulled out?
