Anyone tame one of these buffed dragons yet? if so please let us know how good they are, and where they spawn, or if any dragon has a random chance to spawn buffed

Somebody please get their barding difficulty and minimum taming required. Thanks in advance.

They're not exactly that new anymore. Haha, they came out on test a little earlier, were removed, and apparently stuffed back in. I am a very happy person right now.

You might want to check this thread out. Lots of good info. Buffed Up Dragons!

It's a pain to lead tame by yourself, but with a buddy or through honor taming, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Yes, I've tamed another, though I gave it to a tamer struggling to tame one.

I've tamed them on TC1 in Destard in both Trammel and Felucca. I've not looked anywhere else.

They appear very good now they've had a hit point reduction (a factor in firebreath damage), though I'll need to take a new one back out for another post-tweaking road test.

Tamed one tonite heres the pre tamed stats and post tamed stats
HPs= 1451/693
STA=117/59
mana= 557/557
bard diff.= 160/126
base dmg.= 24-33/23-33
wrestling= 134/96.5
tactics=113/82
resist=119/86
magery=127/114

Im curious to see if the skills that were over 100 are able to gain just as high post taming (a pet with 134 wrestling will be a force to reckon with)

They look like they were slightly tamed down (pun intended), however, not much, they still look like they will rock. I don't think they have as wild a range in stats and resists now though. They are about what I would expect for a five slot pet, but if someone could post some reliable stat ranges, I'd be grateful.

Ya ya but 5 slots? You should at least be able to ride it so you don't HAVE to walk everywhere!

Actually, you lose a lot of power on any pet by making it mountable. Compare a bake to a nightmare. The bake has wonderful power, but isn't mountable. The mare is still relevant because it is mountable, but it will never do as much dmg as a bake.

I LOVE the design of this dragon. Of all the changes in recent memory, I am most excited about this one. It makes dragons exciting again and it introduces an unmountable, 5-slot super pet.

The thing that excites me the most about this pet is that there is such a large range in each stat, skill and resist that it is implausable that someone would ever get a perfect dragon, so the devs were able to make each stat go higher than they normally can on a tameable. In fact, the range on resists alone are high enough that it's implausable for someone to get a dragon with perfect resists...

This pet allows tamers to get multiple versions of the dragon that are each unique and serve a unique purpose. That's great...

The rarity of a perfect dragon is further increased by the roughly 10% chance of a dragon spawning as a super dragon.

Another aspect I like about these dragons is that they're 5 slotters, so you have to be on foot to tame them and their bard difficulty is so high that you can't peace-tame them reliably. I also like how they teleport all over the place when low on health

Did some more testing on the pet I posted above.
they can handle normal Balrons with minimal heals. Paragons were still impossable to keep up heals on (120 vet 120 lore) but I think with one other healer/vet there it would be possable.

After the balrons test I went to rotting corpses to work some skills. Looks like pre tam skills over 100 will also go over 100 post tame.

There insanly powerful and there for they deserve a name of there own....perhaps?
Ancient Dragon?
Elder Dragon?

Just because they deserve it and people hunting where they spawn don't deserve being one shoted by a mob with the same name as one 3Xs less powerfull IMO.

Also ide like to add that if they want to give us 5 slot pets imo give us something new that was prevreviously untamable like Shadow Wyrms or Ancient Wyrms? or something totaly new.

but as it stands I will more than gladly accept a more powerful verson of the old dragon currently in game

Believe it or not ancient and shadow wyrms used to be tamable. There may be 1 or 2 in a stable somewhere but to take them out means a good chance of losing them so if anyone has one they won't risk it.

Maybe the devs could rename them ancient wyrms and drop the current varity?

Do the super dragons cast mage spells or are they necro-mages?

I think probably their proper name is "greater dragon". If you kill one you will see it has the name, "a greater corpse". I'm guessing they kept the same name and appearance as lesser dragons to make it less easy to predict what you are fighting if you are fighting a dragon. This makes all dragons more frightening, which I think was part of the point.

As for ancient wyrms, they have been buffed as well according to the publish notes, and I shudder to think how tough they are now. These new dragons will die if they aren't properly trained and handled, like any pet, but these are bar none, the strongest pet in the game now.

And damn, would I love to have a shadow dragon...

What llewen says is true... I also wanted to add that no 2 super dragons will be alike because of the REAL high range in each stat. Just getting one with identical resists to someone else's drag is really uncommon, but then when you compare all the stats and skills, it's safe to say that no 2 greater dragons are alike.

I think it's likely that another person's dragon could have no problem with balron paragons, but then have trouble with some critter that your dragon soundly defeats.

With a lot of vetting my new pet and I were able to take down a AW (there easier than a pretame greater dragon)

Than I tested my greater on a shadow wyrm was able to solo it without any heals ... but Ide still Love to have a tame shadow wyrm with all the necro splls that cast

I am a big fan of variety and options
I actually have a long list of creatures that I think shoul dbe tamable and how they could be balanced into the current system

[/ QUOTE ]So far, Fel gate has been the worst place this new dragon has fared. So slow and so damn easy to hang up on house corners and terrain...Frankly, if you manage to die to it anyway, you clearly deserve to fork over your insurance money.
