Like other sites recently in the news, we too are being targeted by a large-scale DDoS attack (distributed denial of service).

We apologize to anyone experiencing issues reaching Stratics!

Anonymous individuals continue to crudely attack the Statics network as we diligently work to thwart their efforts.

The longstanding Stratics community is the foundation of who we are as a fansite. Over the last 13 years, many have become like family and it is with this in mind that the entire staff is working together to keep our content and forums available.

We appreciate your continued patience and support!

Adam is also in charge, he's still part of running UOF. Traffics gone up. so thats good.

The viewing as a guest restriction has been removed.

Lord Chaos is not 'running a site in competition with stratics'. UOForums has been up and running for many years as you well know. Lord Chaos is just the new owner.

May wish to start there.

Thats an unfounded and slanderous accusation as well as a direct insult to Adam and all the staff there.

Stratics may not like UOForums or its staff/members but that level of immaturity is uneccessary and totally unacceptble.

UOForums get posters trying to do exactly the same against Stratics but have clear guidelines on that.

Grievances about other sites and UOForums.

You will not use UOForums as a platform to slander other websites.

I really wanted to stress test the site.

Now we have!

Seems to be running nice and fast now, and that's with 3x normal traffic still... It was handling something like 10x the traffic alright too. However some of our first firewall rules where a little over zealous which is why some people where experiencing connection problems.

Please make sure to send me a message either on the board or [email protected] if you have any problems or if a friend is having problem connecting.

Is there an appropriate news forum? I could post server news there on a regular basis (when there is news to report).

Glad to see I can get back on too.

If I was guessing, I'd say it is highly unlikely that Stratics was targetted directly - much more likely to have been a casualty of mitigations taken by Tier 1 internet backbone providers in reaction to the global DDOS attacks on financial/business institutions.

No real harm done and I'm glad I could still order stuff with my credit card yesterday (possibly as a result of the actions taken).

The only concerted attacks that I know of are those by Anonymous against any Visa or Mastercard processing site to protest against the arrest of Assange.

Is there Stratics gear available by these? That could be the link.

some of us are denied Facebook/Twitter access by system policy when they are at work ... like me. Also, some folks do NOT partake in sites like that due to some of the security issues and legal issues that have arisen by abuses on them.

Since UOForums is the only thing I've indirectly taken over. *I* didn't buy it, EOGamer did. I am just the CEO of EOGamer, but it has several leaders including Adam.

So in pointing fingers at me, you very much point fingers at Adam as well.

But either way, don't really care much personally what they (Stratics) do. But from a pure UO standpoint, considering several staffers were spending a lot of time on UOF, it might have been prudent for them to post a thread about what is going on, instead of us having to post 2nd hand information.

I was reading UOForums however although I knew what was going on, I felt it wasn't my business to tell anyone as I wasn't sure if it was private information or not, So please don't blame usual staffers, IMO it was down to an administrator to announce the situation.

I don't see how it is Statics responsibility to announce to all the other unofficial forums when there are network issues. The world doesn't revolve around LC or UOF.

Personally, once the ownership of UOF changed, I deleted my account there. When the CEO of a company/forums openly advocate breaking the TOS of the game they discuss (which Lord Chaos has repeatedly), that company loses my trust.

Considering that Stratics is more than 12 times the size of EOGamer, in terms of unique daily views, and more than 300 times its size, in terms of posts, I think we're doing something right. You were lucky to acquire UOForums. Go tend to it.
