Negative stat item?

Howdy folks.

So, just reopened an OLD account given to me by a friend and started sifting through bank boxes to see what was what. Came across a necklace with -10 STR, INT, and DEX listed, only it doesn't actually do anything to stats when equipped.

Doesn't seem much point to this, but its been bugging me - what did these come from? I don't remember ever seeing one before (not that that matters, heh).

They most likely came from the same place all the old + stats items came from, any high level monsters corpse in the pre-trammel days. not completely sure though.
