Need some help / advice to get going

Hi!

Im an old vet that started some again , but i so damn lost about the game and the gear now. my old toons had good gear capped resists and 6x120 skills.

However im on thin ice atm i have a hard time kill stuff and find new decent gear , i have a tamer and WW pet that alll 100skill plus some more pets i tried to kill some gazers in shame but it kills my pet in a flash still even when i precast heal and heal with bandages i cant keep him up. As for gear it looks like i need to buy abyss expansion to be able to get anything.

So anyways tips about what pet i should use and how i keep my pet alive with the healer like is there a new skill to improve it "Focus" no idea wtf that does.

Also what skills should i have on mage now for pve , pvp and same goes for my dexer toons.

From your name I guess you're on Europa. There's a guild HLP which was formed specifically to help new and returning players. There's also a 'New Player House' run by Mim Foxglove. You can find that on the bank of the river just south of Trinsic Moongate. There is also a regular meeting of Vets and Returners at WBB each evening 6 - 7pm UK time.
The gazers in Shame are not the 'elder gazers' you're used to, they're Eternal Gazers. You'll have lots of trouble with them. I fight in Shame on level 3, blood elementals. I have a spot I can lure them to one a time. I can mark you a rune to my spot if you would like.
Pets most used these days are Greater Dragons or something like a Rune Beetle/nightmare combo. I difficult situations I keep them alive through vet supplemented by casting greater heal.
