I have all the +stats gear to pull this off. Question is will this work or should I go with a casting tamer build?

120 archery (+20 archer from headress)
120 Bushido
100 tactics
110 animal taming (+26 from jewels set)
110 animal lore (+26 from jewels set)
100 vet (+26 from jewels set)
99 magery (+26 from jewels set)
85 Civ

45 hci
100 di

GD goes in and tanks and I sit back and fire away Dont have to worry about
DCI or parry since I'm not tanking. Magery for invis + GH if needed.

I'd say go for it. You're covered for keeping yourself and your pets alive, you've got enough skill for pet handling and some offensive power of your own. I mean you could go casting, or make it more damage orientated at the expense of your defensive/vet skills, but I prefer more solid versatile builds.

Besides, there are so many casting tamers out there, it's good to see some warriors in the mix :D

Tamer-warriors are great fun to play but you have to carefully choose what to fight.

The gd can really tank just low to mid level mobs: past that it needs heavy healing to stay alive, and we're talking about an endless stream of greater heal + bandages here.

The problem is that you can effectively heal the dragon or yourself, not both. And if the dragon is taking so much damage it is very very likely that the mob or the group of mobs in question has area damage, and that means they will hit you soon and hard.

In the end one of the two has to die. Being a tamer you'll do anything to keep your pet alive, so you'll die first and it later.

So, great fun set of skills but somewhat limited in the size of your opponents.

I run a warrior tamer too...

My template

110 tame
110 lore
100 vet
120 swords
100 necro
100 tactic
118 chiv

Im 3/6 casting for holy light spam and super fast close wounds.

Garg with all the warrior fixins

I tend to use the beetle/bake combo more often as this temp is damage output crucial. Getting your damage up will let you live through those fights an above poster mentioned as being something to avoid.

While I like the bushido and a few of my original incarnations of this template carried it(at least to 50) I dropped itin favor of higher chiv. Holylight while not very high damage helps with targeting specially when my GD is bigger then what Im fighting. That and scaling the damage on a sheet with my particular build it was just more damage.

Not to mention the heals at 3/6 and 118 chiv are amazing!

Imo a tamer-warrior is perfect for the eternal gazers in the new shame: when those things start to heal at 8% life they just become unkillable without a good measure of added damage.

Here's mine - though i don't have the magery backup

120 - Archery
120 - bushido
115 - Taming
110 - Lore
110 - Vet
110 - Tact
85 - chiv

absolutely love this char. can heal with both chiv and confidence... plus i think i still have another 9 points to spare to.

Though i am reliant on my jewels and headress...

You're better off running with a melee build. First off.. being an archer while running towards and away from your pet to get off a single heal during a boss battle is not a wise idea. Second of all, Bushido and Archery, as good as it sounds, are not very compatible.. A melee skill might be a better choice because you will receive more options from that skill. A melee skill will also allow you to stand next to your pet, simply because you have veterinary. Of course you can have your best friend magery, but that won't make up for the amount of damage the boss will be doing to your pet, simply by replacing veterinary. Since you'll have chivalry, magery won't be needed... A modified template would look like this:

**(HASN'T BEEN TESTED)

120 Swordsmanship (20+ Swords from Captain John's Hat)
120 Bushido
120 Parry
90 Tactics
110 Taming (+26 From jewels)
110 Lore (+26 from jewels)
100 Vet (+26 from jewels)
74 Chivalry (+26 from jewels)

This template will lose the need for LRC and will allow you to focus more on LMC, MI, and MR. DCI and FC/FCR is something you want to try to incorporate into your suit. HCI will not be needed because the lightning strike from BUSHIDO allows you 45% HCI instantaneously whenever you trigger that spell. This template is only if you are interested in fighting side by side with your pet. 1 handed weapons are highly recommended for chugging. I'm not sure about spellcasters, but I don't think they'll be a problem with confusion and invisibility potions.

Simply put:
3 ways to heal - Bushido (Evasion/Confidence), Chivalry (Close Wounds/ Cleanse by fire), and Potions (If you intend on carrying them, unless your wielding a two-handed weapon)

120 Parry/Bushido (Combined parry chance of 35% w/ 1 handed wep, 40% w/ 2 handed wep)

Chivalry/Bushido (Combined firepower for stronger attacks)

HCI? - no worries! (Lightning strike - when triggered, gives an instant 45% HCI)

A melee build? Ah! We are Tamers, the last dedicated professionists of these dark times: we can mix our skills but can't be asked to part from our true nature!

Warriors and mages... bah! so much power, so few knowledge of it.

Ok nice template but dont listen to Qulin

Archer is perfect for tamer as you can stand behind your pet and heal, I do it with my thrower.

But Magery and Bushido are not really needed

You will not get any gains from evasion in bushido and magery? why you can sacred journey to travel around.

I have fought almost EVRYTHING with my tamer thrower and vet is more than enough to heal pet along.

I would consider SW or mysticsm / Focus as additions to your template.

Perhaps

Arch
Tact
Anat
Chiv
Tame
Lore
Vet

or

Arch
Tact
Mystic
Focus
Chive
Tame
Lore
Vet

Both are very strong and vialble

PVM anyhow
