I have made a character that doesnt hide behind the shadows and was wondering what i really need as far as skills go for him. So far i know i want

Chivalry
Mace fighting
parry
tactics
healing
anatomy
focus
Im not sure though hwo much of some of these skills i need. Some people say 85 chiv is plenty or 90 tactics is where u should stop and soem say i dont really need healing past a certain amount. So plz if you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. I want this character to be a great PVM char but i want him to be able to hold his own in the field too. Thanks in advance

Your friendly thief-Sly

Hey Sly, I might do the same thing. Now that Magencia is drawing to a close (I hope), it may be fun to drop the stealth.

There are only a couple Chiv spells that depend on your Chivalry, most depend on your Karma. So get your karma high and run enough Chiv to never fail the spells you want.

Hey now, thats my template. Did you pay the appropriate fees?

I am going to assume that your check is in the mail and advise you accordingly.

Mace Fighting 120

Tactics 90 high enough to use both specials

Anatomy 85 high enough to rez, actual number is 81 I think but I do 85

Healing 100 You can rez with less, 90 is ok. I prefer 100 because you never fail against lethal poison which you do sometimes at 90

Chivalry this depends. If you plan on using holy light, you need 95 I think to not fail. I like 110 chiv because i can use dispel evil to get rid of pesky summons (like demons and earth els) If you aren't going to use holy light and you aren't worried about summons, then 70-80 will do. You are just trying to reliably cast enemy of one.

Focus Dont use focus, use med. You will regen faster and divine fury restores your stamina fully anyway.

Parry vs bushido I run bushido instead. You get hit chance and crits with lightning strike and then you run max DCI. Parry makes you very defensive but takes away a lot of offense that you get with bushido. Id say bushido 115 if you can.

I dont remember who...but someone said that 94 healing and 81 anat was almost the same as having GM heal.

Don't forget, there are bush spells that rely on parry, ie. Evasion, Confidence (if used correctly). If you don't use parry, you lose like 1/2 your bush spells.

Confidence healing does not rely on parry. Evasion does. But he isn't thinking of using evasion because he is talking about using a shield.

Yes it does, if you successfully parry while confidence is active, you get more hp and stam back not just the initial boost from the activation.

Interesting. I'm not sure what purpose that serves since the benefit to confidence heals is that you can do them while running away but interesting none the less.

If you are making a PVM char, keep in mind that 10 tactics = +10 dmg inc. 120 tactics is 30 dmg inc. over 90 tactics, which makes a HUGE difference when you cast enemy of one, consecrate and using a slayer wep. 90 will work for the specials, but there is a very noticeable difference between that and 110 or 120 as a pally in PvM. Not so much in PvP though since you can't use EoO and slayers.

Yes, I second the use of 94 heal and 81 tact. 94 never fails to cure lethal and 81 is the minimum to rez. It is the perfect spot IMHO. Been running it for years myself on several chars.
