I just came back to UO after 2 yrs of not playing and i was suggested this build:

120 Eval
120 Mage
115 Resist
GM Alch
GM Spirit Speak
GM Necro
60 Med

My temp right now is just like this but instead of alchey I have GM Poison, which i was told isnt all that great with the ammount of pots people carry.

Thanks!

Meditation is too low. Spirit speak is too low. And necro should be 105.

With trap boxes and "overcharged" mana pools, resist is pretty much a waste in my experience especially in Zerg vs Zerg type settings. If you were soloing, I'd almost consider resist.

Also, poison + magery needs to be 200 points for deadly poison. So if you have 120 magery, you only need 80 poison.

With the faction crystaline, you can drop magery 20 points and use those elsewhere.

120 mage
120 med
120 eval
120 ss
120 resist
110 necro

Wear crystalline ring and -20 to -25 mage weapon with no fc penalty and as much dci as possible. Also wear armor of fortune, folded steal reading glasses, inquisitor's resolution, quiver of infinity, cloak of death, ornament of the magician, and crimson cincture. For custom pieces, you'll need a neck piece, arms, and legs (and tally) that will bring you to 40 lmc, 100 lrc (duh, hehe), and as much mana regen as possible.

I would like to suggest my build. which is, however it requires you to wear a bloodwood spirit with necro.. but no major expense.

120 Eval
115 Magery
110 ss + 10 bloodoowd spirit for a total of 120
100 resisting spells
100 anatomy
100 necro +5 from bloodwood spirit for a total of 105.
which leaves 75 for medi if you are 4+ year vet..

can for example get a scrappers with + meditation they are fairly obtainable.

this works very well for me, only downside is lowish resist, but it works for me ^^

If you decide to make a pvm necro, his suit can be much cheaper. The suit I outlined is for PvP.

Thanks for the advice guys, very much appreciated!
I was lookin at the straight 6x120 build left by... (forgot who, cant see names while replying). its just a straight 120 necro mage build talking about a mage weap and crystalline ring to negate the -mage skill from weap.

I think thatll be the way I go, but some of you guys have said that resist is worthless because of trap pouches, etc. In that case would you suggest anything in its place on the straight 120 necro mage build

Well, in my experience, resist is useless in PvM but can be nice in PvP, as you don't have to buy new trap boxes when you expire.

If you wanna try something fun, though, stone off 120 resist and add 120 weaving. (You don't actually need 120 weaving...it just fits on your 6x120 template). Aside from making you quite resilient to attack (gift of renewal, attunement), you have spells that screw up fc, as well as the spells summon fiend/fey. You'd be amazed how annoying those fricken pixies/imps can be. o_O

Personally, I wouldn't consider any "straight" 6x120 necro mage build. You waste too many points that could be better spent other places.

If I were just considering a non fancy necro build, I would look into something like:
105 necro
120 spirit
120 mage
120 eval
100 med
100 anat
balance in focus (~60)

I would then run a mage weapon but not be dead meat when I get disarmed.

The "latest" archer template is one that runs 120 archery and 120 swords. Then then run around spamming disarm with a swords weapon. The minute their disarm goes off, they switch to a bow and spam moving shot. At 40 points a pop, you are dead before you can get your mage weapon in your hand.

I currently run a

120 mage
120 eval
120 resist
120 spirit speak
105 necro
80 poisioning
55 med

Biggest problem i have is manna but if i run conservative i do ok 14 mr suit.

I would never drop resist on my mage unless i always fought zerg vs zerg (i prefer 1v1 or small v small 1 manna vamp and your done. not to mention its realy ez to run you outa cure pots(ive drove ppl though over 50)
the poison is debatable if you spam it till the person your fighting runs outa cures 9/10 you win becouse they run away till they unflag and get more pots(can be frustrating but if they run till you refuse to fight you win realy). on the flip side in large scale combate dp fields can realy change the fight but lesser poisons are almost as good. If your always only doing huge field fights there are better choices than poison.

btw evil omen poison = leathal poison = pwned without cures
