I am at 96.8 in poisoning and cannot get a single gain with Deadly Poison with 100's of attempts. I am getting a .1 gain with every 100 to 200 Greater Poison attempts. The various guides on Training Poison recommend switching to Deadly Poison at about 93 skill level. My total skill points are 196.8 on this character. I have tried training in one location, moving around, and even sailing on a boat. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Katrena

I wound up going with Greater poison and using a UOAssist macro to GM Poisoning by just keeping at it. It's just one of those skills like Taming & Lockpicking that take forever and a couple millenia to finish.

It's proven definitely worth the time. I play Pied Piper, get a following, lead them through a L4 or 5 Poison Field, and then have at them. :)

Go to twisted weild, get a Satyr to discord you, stay close by him and start poisoning training. Works with lockpicking too. Remember to take loads of fish and poison with you

After 95, you can go twisted weald and get discorded by satyrs or you can do infectios strikes. (as I remember this worked very well a few years ago when I was helping a friend train poison..he is not playing anymore :( )

make sure u have loads of positive karma before u go
I have 22000 negative karma and it would not be a pretty sight in the Weald. I'm using UOAssist, so I'll keep using GP as long as I can get gains. It is odd though, that I have not gotten any gains with DP.

Thanks, Katrena

There is a real difference in what you poison for training. All of the guides I've read say that it doesn't make any difference if you use a weapon or food for training. In testing this morning with a Crystal Ball of Knowledge, I found when your difficulty is "Very Challenging" with a weapon at a certain skill level, you difficulty with 15 cooked Fish Steaks is "Optimal" at the same skill level.

being at 97, and being that nox is a real drain on the resources, id be more inclined to either GGS the last 30 points or get a pinky.

im thinking back to when i GMed nox and the first 2 times where way back when we had powerhour, so that dosnt help you.
and when i did it here twice in this last year i think i just sat back with one fish steak and plodded along.
GP to 99 then DP for the last 1.0

Katrena do you use black text because you want everyone to skip over your posts?

Greater all the way to 100 is the easiest if you also have an alchy char. Infectious strike works pretty good as opposed to food piles. Just bring your GP pots and work some deamons. Keeps the karma hovering around the same level.. One infectious strike after another on the deamons. They wont hit you with many offensive spells, as their first spell attempt is to cure the poison.
