Need help on a good spellcaster template.

I just recently came back to the game after at least a year off and on top of that haven't had a viable mage type character for PVM in a while, so I need some help with a template.

I definitely want magery but aside from that I'm pretty open to what skills.

I've been looking over the forums and have found two different templates (I'm sure there are more.. feel free to post them) that seem viable but I don't know what kinds of advantages each has (champ spawns, peerless, SA, etc.) or if one is just better for PVM.

First:

120 mage
120 eval
120 resist
100(120) focus (with that ring, I can't remember the name)
120 myst
80-100 med
40-60 necro

My only question with this build is since it's for PVM why have the resist if the construct is going to be basically tanking anyway. And if the resist is indeed for a PVP build then what would I get instead of it for PVM?

Second:

120 Mage
120 Eval
120 Med
120 Myst
120 Focus
120 Weaving

This one seems like it would be good, but as I continue reading I'm getting the sense more and more that spellweaving isn't that great. Arcane Circle seems to be the biggest positive behind spellweaving but getting 4 people to help me do the whole circle business every time I go off to kill things seems a little unrealistic and ridiculous, and unless there's some trick to getting a focus that I'm unaware of (which could totally be the case), I feel like that, on top of them nerfing WoD makes spellweaving kind of underwhelming as a skill.

Thoughts?

well personally i like resist on both pvp/pvm builds, always found it somewhat useful. not sure why you would have necro on your first build(not alot of use without SS). your second build is similar to one of mine(i have resist instead of eval), and it has always worked well for me.

as for getting a focus , just use general chat, and you will get most of the time(assuming you have GM or better spellweaving)

The idea behind the small amount of Necro for the first build seemed to be so you could use wraith form for mana leeching.

Well hopefully that would work.. Pac feels so dead now lol (also don't you have to be using the EC to actually talk in chat?) but I suppose it's worth a shot. Anyway thanks for your input =)

waith form mana leach is based on your SS(0 SS=0 mana leach).

you can chat use in either client (you use the comma key to talk),i use the classic client myself

If you're getting ready to build a new character, you might consider building it on a more populated shard. Might be fun. :)

Yeah but then I'd have no money for gear etc =P

But that does bring up a kind of off-topic question.. what shards are more populated now?
