I've just started a fledgling sampire with chivalry. I've never played one before and can use a little advice on how to create a starting suit. I have access to several copper and bronze hammers. Any advice? Thanks!

With my sampire I reforge either 5 HCI or 5 DCI onto some parts. Then add stamina increase, mana increase, lmc and either boost up the resists or add HPI. jewels have DCI, HCI, DI and then strength and dex bonus.

For a starter suit I would use a pair of Fey Leggings and 5 studded leather suit pieces. Find an artificer to imbue your basic mods. You can help by providing POF and jewels.

I think I can share some insight here since I just went through this process for my chiv/vampire swordsman. Though, admittedly I made a high end suit (glasses/studded/reforged/imbued to the max).

Since OP specifically mentions access to some copper and bronze hammers, but not to any runic sewing kits, I assume that metal armor is the way to go.

Also, since a beginner suit is mentioned, I will assume that there are no arties intended to be involved in this suit, and also that this suit will be made "on the cheap" so nothing will be imbued above the 100% cap. I will also assume that you have a smith to make your own armor, and an imbuer to imbue it, otherwise things get pricey. Just last weekend I was paid 10m to imbue a weapon to max intensities, for instance.

So - if you're making a sampire suit, I will also assume that you want 70/95/70/70/70.

Question: Do you plan to use 1h + shield, or 2h weapons?

So, first thing first, is to build the suit. What I did was I was able to get my suit to be showing 70/42/61/70/70. I did this by basically just keeping an eye on making sure the Fire Resist was the lowest on on each piece before I decided to keep it. This way I can then inbue 3x fire resist, +1x cold to keep as many imbue slots open for other stuff. I waited around for very specific pieces of armor toward the end - I think I spent 10k leather just to make my gorgot alone. Since you're not going all out though, I would just make sure that you can with 5 imbuings get the suit to show all 70s

You have 30 property slots to work with.

Since you are making a suit on the cheap, I will assume that you need to spend 5 on imbuing resist. Make sure to not imbue everything on 1 piece, spread it around.

That leaves 25 to work with.

Then I went ahead and reforged 5HCI on every piece, but since you're going for a budget suit, and you have 6 pieces of armor to work with, I would reforge 5HCI onto 3 of them, and 5 DCI on the other 3. You should be able to do this by choosing just 1 name (no need for powerful/fundamental/structural) which will use 4 charges I think.

Now you have a suit with all 70s, and +15 HCI, +15 DCI. Now you have 19 imbue spots left.

Now go ahead and use any POF you want, because the next step is imbuing. If this is really just a beginner suit, then maybe no POF is needed, since you can earn a lot of money quickly, and start swapping out for a better suit long before these pieces break if they're in the

Now it is time for imbuing. I would imbue a total of 39 LMC - then when you wear it you'll have 45% LMC because metal armor gives a +1 bonus per piece. This will take you 5 inmbues.

Now you have all 70s, +15HCI, +15DCI, 45 LMC, and 14 imbue spots left.

The rest of the imbue slots, I'd spend on +HP, +Mana, +Stam.

Since you say you're a fledgling, I will assume 230 max stats. So I would then assume that Naked your stats are: 110, 110, 10. To maximize swing speed, I would then imbue +42 stam (takes 6 slots) to get you to 152 stam, and +28 hp/+28 mana (4x 7 each).

So, fully dressed, you should now have HP/Stam/Mana of 132/152/38. All 70s in resists. 15 hci, 15dci, 45 LMC.

Since you have access to hammers, and aren't going to be super precise about getting the un-imbued stats of your armor JUST right, you could play around with the reforging and try to reforge a piece to have 5 HCI and also to have 10 of one of the other stats, or 10 LMC or something useful by using both name spots. Ideally you want to have a bit more than 150 stam so then even after you get hit once or twice you're still >150 for swing speed purposes. Probably a lower end hammer than bronze is the way t go here, but you can look at the charts yourself. Maybe even as low as shadow iron so you don't get stuff you don't want clogging it up, and then you need not concern yourself with potions (though lesser str/agility pots are cheap from NPC, and can help if you're fighting a particularly big baddie)

Now to forward, we'd really need to know whether you're going with 2h weapons on 1h + shield.

I for instance am going with 1h + shield. So I managed to reforge a shield with +5 HCI, 10 SSI and 30 DI. Then I imbued it to have 15 DCI on it.

In general though, you'll want a weapon with as much Mana Leech on there as you can get. Since this is a beginner suit, probably a katana is the way to go, since you can swing that at max speed without needing any SSI anywhere...

Intresting suggestion tuan has, Corwins link is not bad either.
Just wondering, what would a "cheap" suit look like, if you dont have imbuing skill...

Hmm, well I guess you'd play around till you got as close to all 70s as you could by smithing your suit up, and then you use a bronze hammer or two to reforge with 2 titles and powerful and just hope you get all "good" stuff.

I guess the total cost of this would be ~1500 ingots + 2 bronze hammers? Making a really good suit was a bit of an art form back in the pre-imbuing days.

Same for the weapon, though for jewels you're really at the mercy of luck/RNG.

Alternately you could commission an imbuer to make you a suit of 70 physical resist, and 6x 140 luck, then just settle into Shame and kill 100s or 1000s of Stone Elementals hoping for good stuff in there that's not cursed.

Imbuing is, for sure, the way to go though.

If you already have a decent character set up, you can go collect most of what you need on your own. Then it's just a matter of befriending an artificer/commissioning one.

Thanks for all your help! Unfortunatly, I don't have an imbuer. I do plan to upgrade as I get the money, but I just want something to start out with, as my skills are still low. I managed to snag a nice jewel set from an idoc with dci/hci. My resists arent the best at 60, the lowest 50. I'm using a katana for the time being but would like to eventually get a nice long sword. How hard are the stone elementals in despise?

Hmm, I have no way to guage how tough you might find a stone elemental in Shame. If your skills are all 100 or less, and your equipment is, umm, not that good, they might be a reasonable challenge for you.

What shard do you play? If Chessy, I could help you out. Otherwise, go post in that shard's trade forum and ask if someone would be willing to imbue things for you if you provide the raw materials.

I don't play any other shards other than Legends, but if your sampire is there, ask for Zath at the general channel during the week and I will suit you up with a goodish sampire suit for free.

If you are on Napa I can offer some help.

My recommendations for a starter suit would be to focus on physical and fire resist. Try to get as close to 70 physical and 95 fire as you can. After that look for LMC.

Weapon wise my recommendation would be a radiant scimitar. One of the key specials for a sampire is WW, and you want it at max swing speed. Personally I think a great place to start with a sampire is the goblin mini-champ in the abyss with a soul seeker.

Is anybody running a sampire with the lower resists (65s/70 energy for elf) and higher DCI (70?) after refinements? I'm going to have to make a new suit to fit in some new pieces soon and like the idea of higher DCI but don't know if it really outweighs with the lower resists. Anybody trying it (this assumes you've collected and combined all those refinement ingredients)? Sorry for the duplication if this has already been addressed elsewhere (in practice, not in theory).
