I've recently returned to UO after a very lengthy absence, and I find Im a little overwhelmed with all the properties items and armor now carry.

Would anyone be will to share some general guidelines on what is junk and what is worth something...for say weapons, armor, jewelry, etc. I have tons of magic stuff, I just don't know if any of it is valuable or belongs in the trash can.

Thanks!

It was already enhanced, and predates AoS, you might as well unravel it with the new imbuing skill, unless it was some sort of collector's item.

Charged jewelry and clothing are about the only things worth anything, but they aren't rechargable. Mostly, it's the invisibility charged items that are sellable.

If it retains the "A magic" title, or is a pre-AoS Juka bow (especially ones not yet converted with gears), weapons are possible keepers.

Some things that are double-exceptional, or have the old-style player markings (when made by a GM crafter) can be valuable to collectors.

Truthfully, you'd be better off finding a merchant you can trust, and have them look over things. About 99% of it will be crap, but you don't want to accidentally throw out the few keepers with the junk.

Thanks!

What about skill jewelry or items with lrc, or certain resists/damage properties. for example is skill jewelry with skills under +10 garbage? Does an item of armor need to have 15% lrc or 15 resist in multiple categories? do magic weapons need to do at least 50% special damage for example poison, energy...who knows...Im just making up numbers, but every time i go hunt i end up with a pile of stuff, and i suspect most is garbage...

Here is a list of properties that items can have. You can figure out what the high ends are and keep those on the high side. There is a new skill called imbuing where a skilled player can take an item with or without other effects and add many of those same effects to make items more useful. This changes what you may want to keep or throw depending on if you have imbuing or hire someone with imbuing to alter your stuff. It basically depends on what you want to do with the loot.

Thanks for the post Kallie, but not quite what I was looking for. Maybe I should have posted in the traders hall. I'm more interested in what there is a market for, and what might as well be thrown out.

I don't buy or sell stuff anymore but things have changed recently. Now if a player wants a specific piece he can get someone to make that piece with imbuing (and other crafting skills). This has undoubtedly changed what is worth trying to sell. Perhaps the trading forums might offer suggestions or if not looking around in there you might see what people are selling and for how much.
