Hi all - I'm back to UO after many years off. I think I left back when Trammel came out. Luckily my characters are still here but I don't remember much beyond the basics. I have been reading up on all the changes and I'm overwhelmed at the moment.

I want to find a character that would be good to start from scratch, through the New Haven tutorials, to just get re-familiarized with the game. I have a mage and a bard/tamer, archer, etc. I'm afraid of going out and getting thrashed until I get reacquainted.

I keep reading about Sampires. I also have interest in a ninja. Are either of those decent for starting out without alot of money and gear? I was afraid about finding reagents on the Sampire. I do have some money still (maybe 1 million across my characters), but I want a character recommendation that would let me get my feet wet all over again. I don't mind leveling up skills slowly through low level areas.

Your advice is most welcome. Also, I'm on Chessy, so any guilds that welcome new players would be nice to know about also :) Thanks!

Welcome back.

For any fighting character its very important to get a all 70 resist armor or something close to it. If you have a crafter it will be important to get your hands on runic tools or when you have the Stygian Abyss Expansion to get Imbuing skill. With imbuing you can about customise your own weapons and armor/jewelry.

Making gold is not too bad. Don't forget you can insure your items now so it won't get lost. Too make your first gold it might be good just to go to Dungeon Shame, Kill earth eles and collect gold and gems. the gems can be sold to the NPC and will make alot of extra cash.

For your tamer it will be good to get your hands as soon as possible on a Greater Dragon. I think you will need help to get your hands on those.

Make sure you go to the Chessy forums for help on your shards.:Chessy Forums

All other forums for crafting and taming and everything you need to know you will find alot of helpfull people.
