Hey, so I'm slowly but surely working my magery and necromancy skills up, and I was wondering What spell rotations some of you pros use in most pvm encounters.
There's not really a spell rotation for PvM.Hey, so I'm slowly but surely working my magery and necromancy skills up, and I was wondering What spell rotations some of you pros use in most pvm encounters.
Is Fireball better damage over time than Flamestrike? If its low on fire, Explosion Fireball Fireball Fireball repeat.
Yeah, see, these are the things I would like to know.Is Fireball better damage over time than Flamestrike?
Also, would you throw in corpse skin?
What about PvP, not that I'm really anywhere close to being able to PvP. Is there a common spell rotation for it?There's not really a spell rotation for PvM.
It all depends on mob's resists.
For non-boss mobs where you can kill in a few spell
If its low on fire, Explosion Fireball Fireball Fireball repeat.
Low Energy just Ebolt repeat
and so on.
All you really need to do is load up with SDI and use the right slayer book that's about it.
Fireball has way better damage efficiency than Flame Strike. And if you have high enough Spirit Speak. Go into wraith form for any damage you dealt out you get a portion back in MANA. Usually with sufficient Spell Damage Increase, 40 Lower Mana Cost, Mana Regen and/or correct slayer book you can spam Fireball in wraith form endlessly. Is Fireball better damage over time than Flamestrike?

PvP is whole different kind of story. It really depends on your experience. What about PvP, not that I'm really anywhere close to being able to PvP. Is there a common spell rotation for it?

Corpse Skin is useful only if you are fighting something "Big". Corpse skin basically gives you 15% more damage on your fire and poison spells, but there is no point using it if the mob dies in a few fire balls. If the monster takes more than an explosion + 5 fireballs to kill then I would use corpse skin.
Also for big bosses you can also use strangle and recast it as it wears out. It's one of the most mana efficient damage spell you got unless the mob has super high poison resist.
As a necromage if you are fighting a boss type monster "ALWAYS" start with a Curse spell, it will drop all its Str/Dex/Int by a percentage, ususally means an instant 10% total HP damage. Say the boss has 1,000,000 hp, by cursing it first you effectively delt out 100,000 damage already.
Oh, k, well at least his post was somewhat informative, maybe you could offer a better suggestion? If you record the macros in UOA as he has written them, please come to great lakes so I can kill you! Thanks much!
I think he's yapping about you might put exp fs omen pain spike in one macro and preform the combo in one key push... which can be easily interrupted... at least what I am guessing. Sorry stractics has a lot of trolls and they usually don't have jack to offer other than saying "I pwn uo irl!!!"Oh, k, well at least his post was somewhat informative, maybe you could offer a better suggestion?
Ahh ok, I see what you are saying... This is actually how I have it set up now. but only because I haven't taken the time to make any macros hehe.My better suggestion would be to not record spells and targets in the same UOA macro. If you get disrupted your UOA macro will time out and you'll have difficulty casting another spell. You can hit the stop macro, but it's more efficient to put your target self / last target on your mouse wheel rolls, and have each spell on a separate key.
Hmm maybe I didnt make it clear so you recorded the whole thing on one macro. I even used the term "offscreen" which would be impossible to do if you have exp fs on the same key.Ahh ok, I see what you are saying... This is actually how I have it set up now. but only because I haven't taken the time to make any macros hehe.
So you have NO macros with last-target built in?My better suggestion would be to not record spells and targets in the same UOA macro. I have none built in with Last Target. It seems to just beg for trouble in tight spots. So you have NO macros with last-target built in?
I have it for magic arrow, harm, and mini heal.
Auto target does not bode well for poison locks. No offense, but I doubt you're a very good mage.So you have NO macros with last-target built in?
I have it for magic arrow, harm, and mini heal.
Correct.OK, so what I'm getting from this, Is i should put targeting macros on the mouse wheel and then bind the spells to keys individually so if I'm interrupted I don't get tied up with a macro timing out?
Why would you want a common spell rotation for PvP?What about PvP, not that I'm really anywhere close to being able to PvP. Is there a common spell rotation for it?
Just looking for a starting point... Gotta start somewhere, then I can evolve my own play style. Why would you want a common spell rotation for PvP?
Common spell rotation = predictable = me knowing what you are going to do = me quickly already setting up to counter what I know YOU are going to do = (YES the best one of all) YOU DYING REAL quick like.
hmm i may take this offer. ive been playing uo for years now. but all ive been doing was mage 1v1 going out on my own hopeing to get some kills without a major gank. although ive been playiing for a while ive never really went out and did field pvp. which is a whole dofferent story than doing duals. calling targets. xhealing. staying on the same target and staying alive does get tough. but with some help i could improve so much better. are you factioned? i may pick up a xfer token tonight or maybe tomorrow. im at work at the moment so i dunno how much funds i have.do you have icq?You want to group spells that are casted in order close to each other.
Example, mini heal, cure, and gheal should all be 1 key apart.
Exp/eb/fs/omen/painspike should all be close.
Magic arrow, weaken, harm, poison, lightning should be close.
curse/strangle/corpse should be close.
Use Alt+Key and Ctrl+Key to maximize your options. Keep all spells in one general side of the keyboard. On mine, Q-T, A-G, and Z-B, as well as space bar are all being used (with all combinations of ALT and CTRL). You want to be able to hit your keys without moving your hand too much.
Follow high damage spells with an omen. Keep your target cursed. If you strangle/corpse/curse and he eats an apple or casts remove curse, then just stick with casting curse. No sense in wasting mana.
Check his resist status with a paralyze, if he has no resist but carries a box use mana vamp on him. If no box paralyze. Exp/mindblast/para, repeat.
poison your opponent a few times to determine if he has pots. if he doesn't, use the poison tick timer to your advantage to keep him poisoned. If its a mage (assuming normal mage poison), the first poison damage tics after 3 seconds, then 2 seconds thereafter. Use small spells to disrupt the cure attempt (weaken/harm/painspike/omen, etc) and when you know the tick is coming let that disrupt his cure spell and cast larger spells like lightning.
There is no "do this every time". Each fight is different, each player is different.
In group PvP, there is a pretty standard tactic for mages that I won't get in to. If you are on Great Lakes and you are looking for a guild to mage PvP with private message me. I enjoy recruiting people new to PvP and training them. (this offer is open to everyone)
Thanks, and I would like to take you up on your offer, but I'm on Atlantic. You want to group spells that are casted in order close to each other.

I play both ATL and GL, I prefer GL.All the zerg/cheater PvP is on Atlantic, don't transfer. =/
