myth or reality ?

Hi, after returning to the game in 06 there have been two things I have been trying to accomplish but they simply seem to be impossible. I need reassurance that they actually can be done:

1) I am trying to complete my dawns music box: I am running a music gear vendor (simply to give me an incentive to keep at it) but have never ever gotten a rare gear drop in over 700 (yes I counted) Para Golems, Para Juggernauts or Para Betrayers. Now I know the RNG can be mean but hey? Also none of my friends had a rare gear drop in the past years.
I should also add that I have never seen any rare gear for sale on a vendor on any shard.

So: I am looking for someone to confirm that they had one drop in the last three years (and I am not talking bout Veritae´s Gear that came from the book of truth quest).

2) I am trying to get every possible recipe in the game. Stone Anvil (east) is still unavailable I read (currently cannot drop) so I am not trying for this one.
The only other one I cannot seem to get/find after spending literally millions of iron ingots (and yes, I run a recipe vendor as well) is the overseer sundered blade. I have had every other rare smith recipe drop at least 20 times now, probably more but this one I cannot seem to get.
Same here: have not seen the recipe on a vendor on ANY shard I checked in the last years.

Again: I am looking for someone to confirm that this recipe has dropped in the last 3 years.


If anyone can confirm that any of the above still drop I don´t mind trying further but if they are somehow bugged I could save some time .

It took me 100's of thousands of ingots to get all the smith recipes, but I did get them all. The overseer sundered dropped at least 3 times on Chessie. I saw the blade itself for sale on a vendor and 1 recipe on a vendor before I got my own.

(1) yes i have done at least 3 full boxs in the past 2 yrs .I farm just par golems an the drop rate does sux but they do drop. (2) I had to buy the recipe on atl an have it x-fred to great lakes to conplet my crafter.So in a nut shell just hang in there

Yeah, the rate of rare drops is supposed to be 1% chance from a paragon of the apprpriate type.

Non rares is supposed to be 10% chance for common, 1% chance of uncommon.

I think the paragons are bugged so that if it hits the chance for common or uncommon, it doesn't make the rare gear check.

I've gotten 6 rares in the last 4 years - 4 of them in the first 3 months. The last was about 6 months ago, but I've not farmed the golems more than 3 or 4 times in the last year.

confirm overseer sundered blade recipie on baja within the last 3 years. I myself tried for 200k ingot to get the luminous rune blade recipie till i gave up on it, just got it today from a guildie who does idoc's regularly.

I've obtained 4 or 5 of the rare gears in the past few years. When I have sold them it has always been via the boards because I find it is much easier to work this way (can arrange to trade ,etc...). Hang in there and maybe the RNG will show you some love for your persistence.

As far as the smith recipes. Look at selling the ingots to an NPC or better a player and buying back breoadswords. Last I checked get mor bang for your buck.

I got the overseer recipe. I had a break from UO and started again around 3 years ago and my smith can craft that blade. So I must have got it somewhen during the last three years. (Heartwood wasnt active before I left.)
If you need such a blade, I could craft it on Europe ( ,if you supply the mats... I am not that good at going for peerless monsters.)
While the stone anvil(east) recipe is not dropping I have a deed for such an anvil somewhere. (If you are to collect the items.) I got that one from a heartwood quest. (Especially the carpenter quests giving out elven house addons fairly regular.)

@ Silverbird: I actually play Europa but it´s not so much the items for me, it is the ability to craft them . But thanks a lot for the offer!

@ Warpig Inc: you are correct I guess:
I buy my iron ingots from NPC (if you know where to look you can easily get them for 8gp per). This means one broadsword costs 80gp when I craft it and I can buy them cheaper. But I guess I would either have to work a blacksmith/weaponsmith NPC up to an item count of at least a hundred to complete 10 quests and then go back and forth or go to different ones and always buy the 20 they offer. I guess this would take considerably more time than just crafting them in heartwood. But should I ever run out of money or cheap ingots I will go this path. Thanks.

Hi, the quest to make ten broadswords (don´t recall the exact name of the quest right now) is available from 2 NPC blacksmiths in Heartwood (go as far south as possible - the NPCs are next to an elven forge and anvil, cannot miss them).
They offer other quests as well but this is the cheapest to make.

Note about the music gears:

When I said I got 4 in the first 3 months, 3 of them came in ONE DAY.

One of the few times the streak-prone nature of the RNG actually worked in my favor.

It also helps to have a group of people hunting golems, etc. all at once.

A party of 3-5 people can keep the 3-golem population of the south annex of the keep turning over fairly quick, especially since EVs are attracted to the mana of the controllers, and go for them first (with less than 3 people, the concentration of 6 controllers in that small building can be troublesome). when you have multiple golems spawning quickly, having several paragons in a row, or (eek!) two at the same time, becomes MUCH more likely, because of the RNG streaking tendencies.

I never finished getting all the smith recipes .... I think I got almost insane after about 60k in ingots. At any rate I gave up. Think I still need 4 or 5 but I don't care anymore.

As for the gears I know they drop... I got a full box years ago... I keep working on more as I have at least 4 more boxes... haven't actively farmed them in awhile but whenever my travels take me near the golems and such I do go out of my way to kill them and look for a good lucky drop.

As I recall they never did put that one recipe in.... for the East facing anvil.. dunno why.... lazy I suppose.
