(Myst vs Necro) Mage... few questions

Can you guys/gals who have had experience with both necromages and mysticmages list the pros and cons?

I am just getting back into UO after a while away, and I currently have
mage/med/eval/necro/ss/spellweave.

In your opinion, you think droppin necro/ss for myst/focus is good?
Maybe drop spellweave/med for myst/focus?

BTW, I'm on Atlantic, not so much siege anymore as my sig says (that place has become a ghost town).

depends on your intended playstyle

pvp, spawns, PVM, imbued resource farming, peerless.......

Ah okay good call. I suppose mostly solo PVM, and I'd like to do imbuing resource gathering as well.
On that note, I have a tamer as well, so I dunno if a tamer is better suited for resource gathering (I really haven't seen any new content yet).

Not real big on pvp with mages (probably cause I am horrible at it lol), so it would be almost exclusively PVM. I'd like to be able to do a little of everything, but I'd really like to see the SA stuff, and I dunno what, if any, of it is solo-able, or even 2 mannable?

Gathering imguing ingredients and doing the bosses and renowneds in SA mystic/mage trumps necro/mage easily(except for possibly the cavern of the discarded). outside of SA not as much difference as the RC(your main firepweer) seems to get dispelled much faster than in SA areas.

though necro/mages still the better choice for most champ spawns(not the SA ones), and as stated above my preference for the cavern of the discarded.

Keep the Spellweave for certain! Mucha easier to get a lvl 6 focus since Genral Chat came out.

The one thing I liked about Necro/SS was the unlimited mana from wraith form and GM SS, and the ability to summon a "Familiar pack mule" to suck up the gold on ground when Champ died:)

But with SA, I soulstoned Necro/SS and added 120/120 Focus/Mysticism and never looked back! As previous poster mentioned, the RC rocks in Cavern. Takes a little while, but spamming RC"s runs the spawn up to Renown, then 8-10 RC's kill him. The 120 Mystic scroll is expensive (fortunately I got mine for 200K off a vendor that likes quick inventory turnover!) but you you can Imbue jewels now to cast at up to +30 skill while training nauturally (I never tried to "grind" this skill, and am at 118 and change right now from normal play).

i run both template on same char soul stoning off what i dont need. i found that for barrcoon spawns and other lower heatlh monsters that necro mage works well also necro mages have abilty to boost their own dmg by corpse skining larger monsters.

Mystic mages on the other hand i think are better fit for harder group monsters they hit harder and rc is very strong. but some down falls are big mana cost and what i think to be longer casting times so you might wanna run protection.

overall i like the necro mage better for pvm but i usally keep my guy on mystic mode so i can pvp as well.TYR
