And burn their house if they have one on Siegelike i said ingame, you would need to have serve consequences. I like the idea of having your character and all your soulstones erased. So if you get caught you would start back at 0. No bans, no other bull****, just erase your guy, than if you get caught 3 times make it where you can no longer log onto siege. Make this just for siege, and watch the population grow.
Ok I am having an airhead sorta day. By test what do ya mean exactly ?Yes or no. I will not make this poll public. Be honest.
Don´t worry QZ.It is one of those days, so forgive me Kelmo, ifn I misunderstood ye intentions/ponderings or questions, regarding this poll. Thus I did NOT answer ye poll yet, need to know what YES really entails/entales um means exactly first, before I say any yes'es.

You need the cheaters to do the testing to see if it works.
My only problem with the cheat code and that system is being banned for programs that do no harm and are accepted by the community, but still deemed illegal by EA/Mythiclike i said ingame, you would need to have serve consequences. You won't be banned from using UOAM http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cf...&p_accessibility=&p_page=&p_lva=306&nextlink=My only problem with the cheat code and that system is being banned for programs that do no harm and are accepted by the community, but still deemed illegal by EA/Mythic
like UOAM. Or resource or bod counters/trackers and so on.
Doing something like that cannot be undone... and it needs to be clear and flexible.
Sure, they do need to be sure people really are cheating before they ban anyone.I need an explanation of what's expected and entailed before I say either way.
EA in general have earned very little trust from me. Last thing I need is for them to root my machine and ban me for having a hex editor, or monitoring my processes.
They are already there. From Cal's announcement here, "Quickly: I spent a Sunday going through the 3rd party program detection report. I have identified more than a few accounts, and these will be handed off to CS to take action. The first step is a warning, the next I think we will have a little fun with.I need an explanation of what's expected and entailed before I say either way.

The point is that a UO Player made and used that 3rd party program way before it was approved by the devs...You won't be banned from using UOAM http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cf...&p_accessibility=&p_page=&p_lva=306&nextlink=My only problem with the cheat code and that system is being banned for programs that do no harm and are accepted by the community, but still deemed illegal by EA/Mythic

Only these programs are permitted to be used with UO. If you don't see a program listed here, it is not approved for use with UO.

If you have nothing to hide, give me your username, password, ip address, and open some remote desktop ports.I dont give a crap on way or other. Frankly because i have nothing to hide.
Any attempts to find out exactly what they are doing will trigger any decent anti-cheating protection.I dont mean i would just agree to let them ramble through my entire computer, but i wouldnt mind them monitoring my running processes while logged in.
Why are any programs illegal? The first lesson of any client/server situation is that the client is out to screw you. This will be very hard to make work. Because without scanning your processes, how are they to find any illegal programs?
This all started because of an idea I had. My idea was since I read people crying for some sorta anti cheat, ban for cheaters, scriptors, and rampant speed hacking. Why not make siege the dedicated anti cheat server. Because Cal had said he/she were going to look at how the changes to rot effect the server before doing more. I thought that is bs, why not make a big change to draw people here. Do something that no other server has and will give people who have been beggin for a hard line on cheaters a place to go where cheaters are banished from. My thoughts were to impliment some sorta anti cheat, or monitor the server for cheaters. Than when one is found give them a hard penalty, like erase their character and skills off of soulstones, than if you get caught a 2nd or 3rd time ban them from the server. Make it where siege doesnt come up on the server list for the cheats. This would only really work with siege because of the 1 character per account, and the fact everyone knows each other. So people would be policing themselves after awhile. It would be interesting to see what would happen if they did something like this.I thought Origin was the official test shard? Why not test it there?
**** that. I wonder if I'd get banned having steam and/or steam mods open...Only these programs are permitted to be used with UO. If you don't see a program listed here, it is not approved for use with UO.

That is why I voted yes and believe siege is the best place to test it.*chuckles* It is happening tested or not.
EA does have horrible programmers. Why are any programs illegal? The first lesson of any client/server situation is that the client is out to screw you.
Don't trust anything the client tells you. You moved 50 tiles in 2 seconds? No. You moved 4. You grabbed the entire corpse full of items in .3 seconds? No, you didn't.
If the client says it's doing something, check if it should be able to. If the client is doing legal commands, fed to it by an illegal program, why is the program illegal? If it's doing illegal commands, block that.
